Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

I thought that Weeden was looking pretty good. Efficient at least. However...the Falcons kept possession for almost the entire second half by making crucial third down stops early in drives and then just kept running over the 'Boys defense with Freeman and great throws to Julio. Weeden didn't have any way to stretch the Falcons over the top. I would say that the 'Boys are more missing Dez right now than Romo.

Right on all points, TBC!

I was really impressed with the Falcons second half changes to their Defense. Whereas, the 'Boys Offense never, or couldn't change. IIRC, there was only one deep pass attempt, which garnered a penalty flag. That was it!

The Falcons started putting 8+ in the box, and that's hard to run against, even with the best OL in the game. Plus, Romo makes that OL better, with his escapability. Where Weeden moves around like his shoes are tied together.

And not being able to shuttle in new Defensive players was also a contributing factor why the Defense looked so bad. Plus, we had three players suffer busted lips. What's up with that?

Spoiler: notes
gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Happy Anniversary "End of Tom Brady's career!!!"

It was one year ago today that the NFL world proclaimed the end of Tom Brady's career, and the end of the Patriots Dynasty.
There would only be three SB rings for Brady.
Belichick was obviously done, he didn't have an answer for KC, how could he answer ANYTHING anymore!?
(Fill in blank) was going to win the AFC East.
"Welcome Back to Mediocrity" was said.
"You don't get it (because you're a homer)" they said.
"You're blind" they said.

This what I said. (hidden for size)

Completely outclassed, outcoached, and outplayed.
I can agree with all this.
But ONE game is going to spell the end of the dynasty? Really? Call it a trend all you want ("No protection", "no receivers", "no help"...), but this team tends to find a way, that's why they're a dynasty.

Are the troubles? Sure, but there always are. With all the injuries they had last year, the Pats had no business getting to the AFC Championship, but they did. Ragtag receivers, injured linemen, sub-par defense, yet they got to the AFCC. It's only week four for cripes sake.

Could the season be in trouble? Sure. But there is already help on the way. Browner will alter the secondary (maybe with more penalties, but still...), and Tyms can't do anything but help considering how much Dobson and Thompkins are contributing. Things always change up here in New England, and the leaves already started, so...

I still see them making it to the SB (though I admit I always do, and did even when Grogan was throwing), so until they're eliminated from contention, In Bill We Trust.

The monkey business (read: the end of the MNF game) all starts around page 506 in this thread, and what a trip down memory lane. Weird that this was a year ago, and we've moved SO far from "it's over" it's hard to measure. They went from "done" and "Tom should retire" to Super Bowl Champions. This season, they're starting over with a brand new secondary, no true "X" receiver, and an overhauled backfield (Dion Lewis? Really?!), and they're winning like it's 2007 all over again.

It's hard to believe that Deflategate was even a thing. If PSI was such a big deal, then how is Brady cheating now? How is he winning? How is he scoring all these TD's? Is BB doing something else? More cameras? Drones? HOW? The world may never know...

NFL Thread Pt. II

So the Ravens are 0-4. Wow. I commented on the Karma being inflicted on the Deflategate accusers, well, I stumbled on a Ravens fan page reacting to this notion. You people think us Pats fans are crazy?

Edit: even better- I went to bed and missed their comeback.

So, NEVERMIND!!

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

DISCLOSURE: there are some pretty crazy Pats fans on Facebook.

Did anyone see the pictures circulating of Ben Roethlisberger using his cell phone on the sidelines during the Ravens game? Here's a link to an article with a picture.

Now, I could really care less about the NFL's rules for this stuff, but as the Brown's GM discovered last year, and I've been reminded time and again, breaking rules is "cheating."

It's OK, though, because the Steelers, AND the NFL, said that isn't a cell phone. They said it's his play call armband.

Really?

Look at that picture again, and you tell me that's not a cell phone.

If that was Tom Terrific, the world would be in an uproar.

The most curious thing is the NFL lying about what that item is. They are a sham, a joke, no credibility whatsoever.
