gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

AFC South is now a tie. Titans won at Indy, Jags lost at Arizona.

Broncos and Raiders got into a brawl, Crabtree is so stupid that he got into a fistfight with Talib with his helmet off while Aqib still had his on. Some days I really miss the AFC West...

As I watch my Pats ascend and the Chiefs descend, I am reminded of how far away the beginning of the season seems.

It feels like it happens every year. All the talking heads overreact to one bad game, and say the Pats are finished. What's weird, is that the same mindset doesn't translate to many other teams.

Week 3, the Steelers lost to the BEARS. Then week 5 got DESTROYED by the Jaguars. Last night, they barely eeked out a win against a terrible Green Bay team. With Big Ben hinting at retirement in the pre-season, you'd think SOMEONE would have said similar things about Pittsburgh.

"Ben's mailing it in."
"Tomlin has lost his edge."
SOMETHING.

Instead, they mostly talk about how Pittsburgh has a good enough record, and WHEN they make the playoffs, who knows? It was one (two? three?) bad game(s), BUT THEY STILL HAVE BEN, BELL, AND BROWN!!

Well the Pats still have the GOAT. I get that people are sick of them winning, but the annual "they're toast" commentary has gotten tiresome. I've got $50 down that the KC/NE game comes up a million times in the lead up to week 15 as a reason the Pats have "lost a step", but Pittsburgh's issues with CHI/JAX/GB will be considered a testament to their ability to overcome adversity.

Every.
Fricking.
Year.

Go Pats.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Mr Mo, I picked the Saints in that game too.

I'm really impressed with Los Angeles' coaching staff. McVie (spl) and Phillips have turned that whole team into a winner.

As a matter of fact, if the "Yams" win the West, McVie is the Coach of the Year in my book. He's turned a kid who last year looked like a deer caught in the headlights into a pretty good QB.

ZoW, is it true, Lynch was sitting on the bench crying during the game.

Hodge, i completely agree about McVie, in fact i'd give him coach of the year if the Rams take a Wild Card.

But i'm worried about the Saints now. Three big divisional games left against two teams who're still in the race. From 8-2 to out of the playoffs? It'd be classic Saints!

But realistically i think they'll win 2 or 3 more games, maybe even 4. After the last few years, it'll be nice just to see them bring down a winning record and in a playoff game again (and i to watch them HOST one), and hopefully win at least one. I've been watching this league long enough to know that on any given Sunday any given team will probably beat a lesser team, but the Saints are one of the teams in the chase this year, and that feels nice.

Crabtree and Talib each suspended two games for the fracas. Until the NFLPA sends in their lawyers....

This certainly hurts Oakland more than Denver.
Denver has no shot at the playoffs (because they're awful and don't know who their QB is) so missing Talib won't really matter.
But Oakland is one game out of first place in the division, with one game each left against the Chargers and Chiefs. The first games against those teams resulted in a one point loss (Chargers) and a one point win (Chiefs).
No Crabtree in the red zone is going to hurt their playoff chances.
