IIRC, Taco Bell was pressured to abandon it's "Make a Run For The Border" advertising campaign by people who deemed it derogatory towards illegal...sorry, undocumented visitors.

I remember that Taco Bell slogan. I used to think it should be “Make A Run For The Bathroom.”

But anyway, yes, a decent draft for your team, Hodge, unless Lewis’ legal problems get in the way. It seems like a while since Dallas was strong enough offensively to concentrate so heavily on defense in the draft.

The Patriots didn’t have any high picks, but I’m happy enough with what they ultimately got; a couple of pass rushers in Derek Rivers and Deatrich Wise, and a couple of big tackles in Antonio Garcia and Conor McDermott. It’s what “America’s Best Team” needed most, so I’m satisfied.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

LOL @ "run for the bathroom" Peggy - Taco Bell uses grade E beef. Yum!

The Saints used their #11 pick for a great young CB. This was a GREAT move and in my opinion the place they most needed help.

Their other first-round pick (thank you, New England) was used for an offensive tackle. It's great that they remain committed to protecting Brees; i'm sure Commissioner Goodell would thoroughly approve. Actually though this was a great move. The guy was the top-rated OL in the draft, and although the Saints' offense has been among the best in the league for several years, talent on the OL hasn't been as deep, and with a couple of veteran starters (including a 12 year vet), depth there will likely be critical to keeping the offense outstanding.

I didn't get to see what they did in the following rounds yet, but i hope they picked up more defensive help. They really need a new LB, and improving the DL could be important too.

I heard the same thing, TBC.

Oh, and this one was almost as funny as, "he folds under pressure", Peggy.

Peggy, they were decimated during the Free Agent period.

As I mentioned, they lost both of their starting CBs. Their starting Strong Safety, and his backup.

There just wasn't any $ to resign anybody of significance on Defense.

Lattimore (spl) was a no-brainer, Mr Mo. And, I was surprised Ramcyk (spl) the Tackle was still available, especially that late in the 1st-round.

Oh, how did TPTB (Mrs. Mo) like the 'Boys picks? IIRC, she's a big FAN of Dallas.

She is a Cowboys fan, but doesn't follow off-seasons. I think she'll be pleased to see the new talent though.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Pats extend Julian Edelman's contract for two more years. Possibly a little under market value at $11-15m depending on incentives, but looking more and more like he'll retire a Patriot. Great receiver, great chemistry with Brady--great news.

Peggy, explain to me why, as you put it, a great receiver would undervalue himself for the sake of familiarity with a QB?

I heard/read the details and he's worth so much more in the open market. Why is it, he along with several other Pats, decide they're not worth top money?

I'll let your Cowboys' own Terrance Williams (who could have gotten more on the open market but chose to stay in Dallas) answer that:

I wished our Defensive backfield felt the same way as TW. They abandoned ship like it was taking on water.
