Re: The Americans

I was sort of skeptical but since it's on FX I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did because I thought it was very well done and not cheesy and kept me interested and engaged throughout. Let's hope it stays that way.

We really like this show, too! I love the 80s retro stuff.

Re: The Americans

Finally got round to watching the pilot. Pretty good start. Maybe shoulda been a 2 hour opener, tho. Lotta backstory there. Perfect use of Collin's In The Air Tonite! Good use of music thru-out really. The Russian spy kicking the perv's asp and then eats the hotdog.

Vincent, was I the only one expecting to see a Ferrari Daytona Conv. driving down the street.

BTW...Episode 2 was good too. I'll be back to make some comments later.

Re: The Americans

This was another amazing episode. They're caught between a rock and a hard place. He's worried about the kids, while she's worried about the mission.

Also, for Fatherland, they're sleeping with other people to accomplish the mission. I'm amazed how long this has been going on without the hint of jealousy.

Now, the FBI has a spy in the Soviet Embassy, these paths will cross sooner rather than later.

Re: The Americans

Agree. Quite an excellent sophomore episode!
Kinda funny the bureau all excited bout their not so high placed source while the Soviets are actually listening in on a higher up. The info learned was pretty big & interesting to see their reaction to it. The 2 main characters actually seem to love one another, which helps in their likability. Two interesting anti-heroes. Which is not that uncommon in today's TV landscape. The premise is pretty unique, however. I think that Elizabeth is kinda more hardcore than Phillip. I like how she consoled him after the scene with the pillow. Was I the only one going 'ewwww' at the caviar scene?

Yeah, it sounded like the Star Wars Strategic Defense Initiative.

Re: The Americans

Another good series coming from "basic" cable. I'm really loving this one.

The Jennings go above and beyond to help "Mother Russia". I'm pretty sure they knew the girl, the mother of the baby, was going to die.

This is good television!

Thumbs down Re: The Americans

Good ep for character development I guess. A tad soapy for my taste but entertaining nonetheless. I really like this show and excitedly anticipate it's long term story arc.
