Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I really enjoyed the 1st couple of episodes.
If you liked Homeland, 24, or The Nite Manager, you'll probably get into this too.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I was hoping this was going to be a good series.

Comparing it to, The Night Manager, is all the recommendation I need. Thanks Dawg!

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I haven't watched this yet, but it's on my To-Do list. Sundance had this really cool German series this year, Deutschland 83 which was set during the Cold War era. It was filmed in Germany with an all German cast. It was about an East German spy in West Germany. I saw a few episodes ( I really want to finish that one, too).

I believe Berlin Station is set in the present day? I 'm curious how they can keep the level of intrigue with it being set after the Wall. Hopefully it has a Bourne edge to it. I definitely want to give this a try.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I've finished the first two episodes. It's actually quite good. I'm enjoying the actors (most anything Michelle Forbes is in, I enjoy..), the backdrop of Berlin is pretty good and it's pretty well showcased. I'm also happy to see that the CIA personnel aren't speaking exclusively English, German is being spoken when appropriate. The production and cinematography is very high end.

It's sort of a slow burner regarding a whistle blower who is outing CIA operatives. I didn't think it could compete with a cold war yarn, but it's very suspenseful as there's a timetable to nail this person before more operatives and the higher-ups are outed, and their taking it personally. There may also be ties to terrorists, so hopefully they'll tie up everything in 10 epsiode. It's interesting that they revealed the CIA "mole" in the first episode, but I think someone is pulling his strings - he's too obvious. I am expecting a major twist like in "The Usual Suspects". I'm definitely in for the ride.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

Has anyone seen the second episode?

I'm sure things will become clearer with each episode, (I had to rewatch the first two eps a couple of times to get most of it), but there are still some questions ..

Spoiler: Episode 2 questions
What was up with the Mosque scene, do you believe the "reformed" terrorist or was that just a line for the "Public" and for those who were eavesdropping?

Whose apartment was the shoe salesman bugging?

I believe the woman who met Daniel at the bar at the end of the episode was working for Hans' group, German Intelligence? She said she wanted to know who she was up against? Why such animosity?

I've only had a chance to watch the Pilot, but I thought it was real good.

Dawg, compared it to, The Night Manager, and I got the same vibe. Intense to the ultimate degree.

This looks like we're going to be dealing from a known, our hero, Daniel Miller is shot, or possible dead. That's what we got from the opening scene.

I agree with you Mr. Bill, great cast. Michelle Forbes, Rhys Ifans, from Elementary fame. Richard Jenkins who never makes a bad move on screen. And, the still beautiful Tamlyn Tomita.

The ending scene and the death of the girl, I didn't see coming. Looking forward to see where were going.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I went ahead and spoiler tag my questions, Hodge , since you, and hopefully others will check this show out. The Berlin setting really makes this show interesting to me, and it's so timely with wikileaks, etc. As Dawg mentioned above, the first two episodes are up on youtube if you don't get EPIX.

(Too bad Westworld isn't on youtube).
