Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

Total double-crosses at every turn and some solid backstory on Hector and his experience at a CIA black site in Morocco. I guess it's true that there are no friends in espionage. It's really tying everything up nicely - in a total chaotic way - but in a good way. I believe next week is the season finale and I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I really like how they went full circle and picked up and continued the opening scene in Episode 1. I am happy overall at the resolutions and the closure to this season. I understand that EPIX ordered a second season. I have to look up the spook terminology, "Eyewash", after seeing this episode. I'm still not absolutely clear what it entailed.

Spoiler: Spoilers
There were a lot of backstabbers (on supposedly the same side) which was just nuts. Everyone had their own agenda and were willing to cover up and "clean up" no matter what the cost. What a piece of work Hans was, he even called himself a friend of the Frosts and had dinner with the Frosts at their home. He definitely got what he deserved. I was surprised that the Mossad woman was also a backstabber and that Esther Krug was one also, but in an unexpected way.

I also like how Daniel turned around at the end and how far he was willing to go to protect the guy he was assigned to find, and probably eliminate.

Hector de Jean .. where can he possibly go?

If you have access to EPIX, I really recommend this series. I understand that there will be a second season, but this would have been a proper Series Finale.

I really enjoyed it overall, but was a kinda convoluted at times. On the other hand, it did show how complicated things can be due to people acting in (or what they think is) their own self interests.

Mr. Bill, was Ashley Judd in the first season of this series?

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

No, Ashley Judd is new this season. I wasn't expecting this season's plot to be very "Realistic" because it involves German internal affairs, however I am buying into it, now. I wasn't expecting to see Hector again since his arc seemed over last season with I guess a "happy ending". Rhys Ifans really made the first season rock and roll and after burning all his bridges I wasn't expecting to see him back this season. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I didn't watch S1, so I was wondering whether that's a requirement before S2?

Re: Berlin Station - EPIX Sunday

I'd definitely recommend S1 as you get a lot of character development. The entire first season is sort of self-contained, it deals with one major issue that finally gets resolved in the finale. S2 is tackling a different issue so from a story POV, you really don't need S1, however S2 just jumps right in and doesn't spend much time on character backstories which were already covered in S1. There are a couple characters that you really need their backstories to understand their head space, so imo you'd be missing quite a bit if you started with S2.

I'm going to see if I can cram S1 into a couple of three days, so I can view S2 during the season.

I see its only ten episodes too. That'll make it easier.

Mr. Bill.
