Re: The Official Baseball Thread

The Tribe comes back from a 8-3 deficit to win 9-8 in the 13th inning!
BTW - that's another (franchise) record for Cleveland this year.

I was holding by breath last night when the D-Backs got to within a couple. Thank God, we kept hitting.

Turner gets 5-RBIs in the game, a new Dodgers record. Now, we've got to continue to pitch well and hit.

I can only imagine BA is sleeping in, or he'd be in here with bells on.

What does everyone think about the Astros? I hope we get a chance to play them, but they're on another planet.

I'm not a fan of the best-of-5 format, but i can't help but be a little pumped for Yanks-Indians game 5.

I can't imagine what BA is doing today. I don't want him to do anything foolish just because the Indians couldn't close the deal.

I bet Mr Mo, was jumping up and down last night. Especially after that Grand-Slam. I guess you could say it wasn't needed, but it was something to see.

I hate the Yankees like I hate the Patriots.

Damn Yankees!

He was at my house. Bummed out, disappointed, and some anger. We both hate the Yankees.

Re: The Official Baseball Thread

Hell of a game last night between the Cubs and my Dodgers. 2-5!

Although I'm a Dodgers fan, I thought the controversial play at the plate should've been an out. The player was safe according to the rule, but the rule stinks.

Re: The Official Baseball Thread

The Yankees lost a VERY close game last night, a real heartbreaker whose ultimate direction really swung on at least a couple of very close calls. Unfortunately i have to agree that the calls were right.

Headed back to the Bronx down 0-2. Again. I still have hope, though. If there's one thing this Yankees team is built to do well, it's perform well late in a series.

In other news, i was SHOCKED that the Cubs took out the Nats. I heard a rumor the other day that Harper was wondering what he'd look like all clean-cut and wearing pinstripes; i sure as heck wouldn't mind finding out, i think the Yanks' hot stove priority will need to be starting pitching, but i'm sure a roster spot could be found for the big fella.

Re: The Official Baseball Thread

Did not have the emotional strength to even look at any of the stories about Game 5; finally read one today. Still have not allowed Mr. Maturin to discuss it or allude to it in any way.

The rumors about Harper and the Yankees started about five minutes after he got to DC, altho some folks think the Dodgers are more likely. I doubt he stays w/the Nats beyond 2018.

There's some theorizing that Girardi might come to DC.

Re: The Official Baseball Thread

It would make a certain kind of sense. 20+ years ago, Buck Showalter molded a group of guys into a team who would be champions for years to come, though they'd be managed by Joe Torre. So if ownership feels like the players they have now are the core of a team that could potentially win multiple championships, they might well bring in a new manager.

I haven't been thrilled with Girardi's lineups this postseason, either, but not so much as to want him gone nor to blame any losses on him.

As for Harper and the Yankees, shameless yankee fans will start rumours about any good player, so i don't usually put much stock in it; but this was different - supposedly Bryce himself, after the Nats' unfortunate game 5, said he'd be watching the Yanks for as long as they played this year, and added that he'd be willing to shave and get a haircut. He has one year left on his current contract?
