Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

With the firing of Rex Ryan today, we now have three teams needing a Head Coach. Who else do you think will join Fischer, Bradley and Ryan, and why?

Here's some records:
  • New York Jets - 4-11 - Todd Bowles
  • Cleveland Browns - 1-14 - Hugh Jackson
  • Cincinnati Bengals - 5-9 - Marvin Lewis
  • San Diego Chargers - 5-10 - Mike McCoy
  • Chicago Bears - 3-12 - John Fox
  • San Francisco 49ers - 2-13 - Chip Kelly

All but Marvin Lewis is my guess (he's with an all-time patient ownership there). Bowles, too much decline by the Jets. Jackson, 1-15 won't do, even for a first-year coach. McCoy, too little done with too much; Fox obsolete; Kelly absolutely cratering with the 49ers.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

You know Peggy, Marvin Lewis has made it to the Playoffs 6 of the last 7 years. And, in each case, he couldn't win a game. I think his firing is a done deal.

I've got'a believe, the Browns ownership hired Jackson understanding it was going to take more then a season to turn that ship around.

The Jets weren't a bad team in 2015. As a matter of fact, they almost made it to the playoffs. Now granted this season has been laughable, so I think he's gone.

Mike McCoy loosing to the Browns signed his own death warrant. Plus, this is a pretty good team with Rivers under Center. Curious who's going to want this job, being they can't get a stadium deal?

John Fox in Chicago has a pretty good resume. Plus, when they get rid of Cutler, maybe they can get a franchise QB.

How did Chip Kelly get the job in San Francisco? Especially after he destroyed the Eagles. I don't see him lasting either, but maybe he knows where Goodell buried the bodies.

Baalke is an idiot and York a bigger one for keeping him around. Nobody with a lick of sense would take the job after they way they handled Harbaugh. They interviewed at least a dozen viable candidates and wound up promoting the Defensive Line Coach two ranks. After that fiasco they went looking for someone else, I think Kelly was just looking to take any head coaching job in the league if he could find someone stupid enough to hire him.

TBC, they treated Harbough (spl) like a step-child.

I've got'a believe you're right about the highlighted portion too. I thought I saw him standing on the corner with a sign stating, "will coach for free!"

Congrats to NE--wraps the season with best record in the NFL , #1 seed in AFC and home field throughout. Yay!

And now on to the Black Monday coach carousel, which seems to have started early.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

The Niners will be paying an estimated $69M to Trent Baalke, Jim Tomsula, Chip Kelly, and their combined coaching staffs over the remainder of their contracts. The ground that Jed York has run that franchise into is very unyielding.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

So far, lets add the San Diego Chargers (Mike McCoy) and the San Francisco 49ers (Chip Kelly), to teams needing a new head coach.

I still think Marvin Lewis (Cincinnati Bengals) is holding on by his fingernails. Oh, and who suspected Kubiak to walk away from the Denver Broncos? Although, I do understand his reasoning. Ever since he passed out in Houston his health has been suspect.

And, how many of you saw that TD pass by the "great" Tony Romo in the game against the Eagles? Okay, I said I wasn't going to .

So Kubiak is out understandable tho, health is a primary concern always. Who do you see trying to get that HC spot? Shanahan's kid, any opinions?
