A (partial) victory for Net Neutrality

A federal appellate court has ratified that the FCC has the authority to treat the internet as a utility, which means that carriers cannot burden consumers with fees and charges for 'high speed' or other bogus access billing.

Of course, this is only one step in the process. Interested parties--meaning, those service providers--will take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court, on appeal. And those same interested parties will lobby the court, and the public, with partial or manipulated information, to sway the decision in their favor.

Here is hoping that Net Neutrality, and the equal access to information is guarantees in the US, is upheld by the Supreme Court.

For relevant background, right here on the forum, here's a list of previous threads on the topic.

Educate yourself, and speak up for your right to access ALL the information our there, and not just what you can afford to pay for.
