American Horror Story: Cult - FX Tuesday

Season 7 Premiere

S07E01 - "Election Night"
Tuesday - September 5, 2017
FX - 10/9c

Spoiler: Promo & Episode Description

What is known about the 11-episode season is that it will be set in Michigan and that the Trump-Clinton election will be used as a jumping point for a season that plans to highlight "people who don't have a voice in our culture," Murphy told THR. Adding, "People who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away." Week one provides a first look at those who have felt ignored. Source

Ever since I heard the impetus for the season I've wanted to watch. Trump winning the election really has people up in arms.

Mr. Bill, I'd tell you about my experience as a child at the Ringling Bros. Circus, but it would scare you to death.

Re: American Horror Story: Cult FX Tuesday

I even had nightmares about Bozo, who I watched as a child. That must have been it.

Re: American Horror Story: Cult FX Tuesday

How many bodies did that guy (Bozo) have on him, anyway?

Re: American Horror Story: Cult FX Tuesday

Why did anyone ever think clowns were funny?

Quote:
From Wikipedia
The "clown" character develops out of the zanni "rustic fool" characters of the early modern commedia dell'arte, which were themselves directly based on the "rustic fool" characters of ancient Greek and Roman theatre. Rustic buffoon characters in Classical Greek theater were known as sklÍro-paiktÍs (from paizein "to play (like a child)") or deikeliktas, besides other generic terms for "rustic" or "peasant". In Roman theater, a term for clown was fossor, literally "digger; labourer".
And the evil clown is noted developing by Stephen King and IT.
Quote:
The contemporary "evil clown" archetype developed in the 1980s, notably popularized by Stephen King's It, and perhaps influenced by John Wayne Gacy, a real-life serial killer dubbed the Killer Clown in 1978.
Thanks for the discussion here guys as it made me look things up. I also do not like clowns and puppets, specifically marrionettes.

Spielberg's Poltergeist also had a creepy clown who dragged the kids into the closet if I recall. I think that's the scariest one. Who would give their kids a large clown doll anyway?

Anyway, I haven't seen the episode yet, has anyone?

LOL Bill, I actually had that same clown doll. A picture of me in the crib with it is around somewhere. That clown doll in Poltergeist was under the bed.
