Agent open to submissions

Bradford Literary Agency's newest member is seeking submissions.

Please note I am not personally recommending any agent/publisher/etc; do your own homework, this is your intellectual property!

Saving you some steps, this is the thread for the agency at Writers Beware.

Re: Agent open to submissions

I've written erotic stories on a commission basis, but the market seems pretty saturated at this point. Every genre, niche, and fetish seems to be well-covered at this point.

I wouldn't be averse to going very niche and sending in some material, but do you know anything about the state of the erotic literature industry at this time? It's been a while.

ETA: twitter takes a long time to load on my phone, I guess they've branched out in recent years.

Link to the agent's page in the agency's website (which is what was on the tweet)

'Not seeking erotica'

Well then. I've always thought that writing children's books could be a lucrative business, as well as a way to buttress against the lewdness of contemporary culture.

Regardless, thanks for the heads-up!

Re: Agent open to submissions

My mother wrote two books over the last 5 years. One is a slow-paced but engaging novel about s murder mystery in a small town. It can be a litle shticky at times, but for a first attempt it's damn good, and the payoff at the end...

Spoiler: really a spoiler
which isn't even about the muder, really, only very tangentially
... Is a twist worthy of M. Night.

Her other book is a non-fiction about an ancestor who lived during and after the War of 1812. He started the free public library system in the US; convinced Congress to start a botanical garden; possibly had an illicit affair with Emma Willard; was a doctor and botanist; and was a loudly outspoken abolitioist who disappeared under suspicious circumstances probably related to his involved with the Underground Railroad. It's intended as a scholarly work, so though the narrative is written, a lot of the technical work is still underway. While i doubt she'll seek an agent for the novel, i'll pass the above information along. Thanks, [/b]AZ!

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Agent open to submissions (SFF, YA, MG, select non-fiction)

First, a reminder: DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. This is your intellectual property and, if you so choose, your career. What you get from it is directly proportional to what you put IN it--and I don't mean pay to play, but research time.

With that said.

I have heard only most excellent things about Dongwon Song from a number of the authors he represents, mostly in the science fiction / fantasy genres.

You can read his submission guidelines here.

Good luck.

Agent looking for...

Carly Watters, in her own words:
Looking for great #ownvoices women's fiction. Domestic, plot-heavy stories about non-white, non-nuclear families please.
Ms Watters is VP and senior literary agent at PS Literary Agency. You can read more about the agency here, and send your submissions (per guidelines) to Ms Watters.

A reminder: I am NOT vouching to this agent or any other, do your own research.

Fireside Fiction is accepting submissions

For those who don't know, this is Fireside Fiction.

They are looking for short stories, in the range of 1,200 to 4,000 long, and their submissions are open for the next week. You can see all their submissions guidelines here.

They pay, and while 12.5 cents per word may seem like small potatoes, it's on the high end for this type of publication.

If you are new to submitting work for publication, I encourage you to read their guidelines carefully, and to adhere to them, to the letter.

They are eager for #ownvoices stories set anywhere/everywhere--hint: they are the ones who paid to have this report on black voices in science fiction report published in 2016. (Here's the thread where I posted about it at the time.)

As always: do your own research, this is YOUR career.

Good luck.

Nelson Literary Agency pitch event

This is taking place on June 21, from 9am to 4pm Mountain time, and you a) need to be on twitter, and b) have completed projects.

Here's the scoop on their website.

As always, I suggest doing some research on the agency as a whole, and the individual agents; not just what they usually look for, what they've sold. etc, but their reputation with other writers.

Good luck!
