Re: Liar - Wednesday SundanceTV

Has anyone tried this new series?

I haven't watched the premiere yet. Hopefully I can before the next episode airs.

ETA: Watched this episode while at lunch. Its really good.

Laura Nielson is an attractive woman, who teaches at a prestigious prep school. Andrew Earlham, is a doctor at a hospital in town. As a matter of fact, they already know one another, because Andrew's son attends the prep school where Laura teaches.

While dropping off his son one morning, Andrew gets enough nerves to ask Laura to have a drink with him one evening. This is no surprise to either of them, because Laura's sister, Katy has been trying to fix them up together for awhile.

Anyway, they decide to meet for dinner at a neighboring restaurant, and it seems they have a good time. That is until Laura wakes up the next morning.

She's woken by a text message from Andrew. "What an amazing night." From the look on her face, she doesn't agree with the sentiment.

She gets up, still wearing the same thing she wore to dinner, and jumps into a steaming hot shower.

She heads to Katy's house, and tries to explain what happen. That creates a problem because she's not sure what happen. She's pretty sure she had to much to drink. Maybe she sent him the wrong message. "He raped me!"

ETA2: Katy convinces her to go to a rape crisis center. They arrive and Laura has an exam along with the center collecting all of her clothes. Nowthis I couldn't understand.

They bagged the clothes she was wearing, but they weren't the clothes she was wearing last night.

The center also calls the police so Laura can tell them what happened. The police arrive and take her statement.

Now something I already like. Interspersed between what's happening "now", is what happened "last" night. So, in essence, we're looking back at the incident thru the eyes of both Laura and Andrew. Nicely done, especially since they both have their POVs.

After taking Laura's statement, the detectives head straight away to the hospital. Andrew's performing surgery, but a nurse gets him out of the OR.

"Dr. Earlham, you're being arrested for rape!"

He's immediately taken off, thank God, uncuffed down to the precinct. There, he says there is no way he raped Laura. This is when we see what happened from his POV.

He's released on his own recognizance, but this is just the beginning.

The Pilot drug me in, and I didn't scream once. Very well done.

And, as of now, I don't know who's the Liar! See what I done there?
