I hate Thessaly as much as I hate Desire.

Possibly more.

Re: Ness' Sandman First Read

hes brought damn near nothing to the story at all so far. The only thing remotely amusing he's done is to tell Morpheus what a moron he is for announcing his plan to walk into hell instead of just sneaking in and out real quick.

Thessaly though, took off a man's face, pinned it to a wall and made the moon her bitch. I am in awe.

I'm about to explode in spoilers, so I will just sit here and stew in your wrongness.

Re: Ness' Sandman First Read

I thought Thessaly was pretty awesome at first too. You'll come to understand why kelly hates her and i dislike her in time.

Spoiler: for those who've read the entire series eyes only for now, please
I think that there's a certain poetic justice in Thessaly, considering how Morpheus has dealt with other former loves. I still don't like her after that, though, i just admire the writing,
and can't bring myself to hatred.

Matthew i liked right from the beginning, but then i had the advantage of knowing him a little from Alan Moore's Swamp Thing issues. I dig a lot of the "minor" characters in The Dreaming. Of course everybody loves Fiddlers' Green, but i love Eve, Merv Pumpkinhead, and even Cain and poor hapless Abel.

The second Death book is much better than the first (the first was a bit rushed, he had more time to work on the second), and although they both bear directly on the story of Sandman, the second one is much more important in that regard. You may feel that you didn't get a lot out of it right now, but i can't imagine that you'll regret having read it when the series is finished. Besides, Death is one of the seminal characters of the story, and getting to know her better is definitely a good thing.

As for A Dream of You, it might be my least favorite story arc other than P&N. The artwork is my least favorite, and Barbie's dreams about bored me to tears. Ken's dreams are even worse. Barbie's are at least worth reading, though, and the analogues are subtle enough that i didn't really get it until my reread.

Re: Ness' Sandman First Read

I like Vol 5 better than Vol 3.

*hides*

And I like Vol 1 better than both of them.
