That's another one I've heard good things about. I didn't realize that they actually managed to tie that series up before the end, that's cool. Is it on netflix?

Interesting. Still in the middle of my own rewatch. By all accounts I've heard, the show gets much better as it goes on. I could see this being doable for netflix, it doesn't seem like the show would need much of a budget, beyond the actors.

Yes. Prison Break is on Netflix. The existing seasons of Jericho are there too. I hope this works out!

Re: Just started watching this - now I learn it never ends!?

There are very few shows a that I invest in on a weekly basis and this number has decreased since Lost. Currently my viewing habits
are to watch series via streaming or DVD and usually watch them Marathon-style. If I'm hooked, I'll stick with it until complete.

At the time Jericho was airing, my investment show was Lost and I knew little about the Jericho. I didn't see any ads about it. I kind of threw it in with Eureka-lite for some strange reason. I decided to check it out recently on Netflix streaming and I have to say that the pilot just drew me in and 30 hours later finished the entire series.

Overall it was an amazing series. The only real criticism I have is they started using flashbacks. Although they were used sparingly
and intelligently, I could see them becoming more prevalent if the series continued for a couple more seasons, which would definitely be a bad thing. There were a few stylistic elements similar to Lost, and I believe that is when it started to falter.

Where it really shined was it's focus on the the family and community dynamics in the first season. I think the glue for the first season was definitely Gerald McRaney. In fact he had to be debilitated through most of the season to bring the other characters into focus. The actor as well as his character set a high bar for the other characters and I believe they all came close to meeting that bar.

Unfortunately a lot of these familiar elements were missing in the shortened second season, but replaced with some interesting new characters , a supercharged plot, and the run to the finish line. They did make an amazing casting choice with Esai Morales in the second season who really pulled off a difficult character, sympathetic but bound by duty.

Some might say that parts were sentimental and soapy, and maybe it's the place I was in or because I immersed myself in a viewing marathon , but that entire show just hit a chord with me. I can't put my finger on it. I think it is one of the best examples of a balance between character development and storytelling that I've seen in a long time. Almost everything about the characters and their world was solid and believable and I loved the fact that they actually resolved the mysteries and answered most of the questions.

It did leave me wanting more, to know what became of these characters, particularly some of the secondary characters. I can't say that about a lot of series that I've watched.

One of the characters went on to become a nutjob during the onset of the zombie apocalypse. Another one become a computer genius in a time traveling Continuum. Yet a third one became one of the many Mad Men of the time.
