Second, good luck with that.

Post Gertie in Verse: King Hussein Did Great

The following was originally submitted by gertie here. I liked it so much that I stripped it of its prose and reworked it into verse.

King Hussein Did Great

If I had to trade
My whole person
I'd have to trade
My life
I wouldn't do that
For anything
I've had a great life
More interesting
And full
Than almost anyone I know
King Hussein did great though

Is it weird that this reminds me of Bukowski?

Why do I think of Steve Martin ..

Now when he was a young man
He never thought he'd see
People stand in line
To see the boy king

How'd you get so funky
Did you do the monkey
(Born in Arizona)
(Moved to Babylonia, King 'Sein

Certain Placed Rocks

He knew he was
called
by certain placed
rocks
He would notify
people
that he had done his
duty
by dousing the
candles
Or just turning something
Upside down
He had a
duty
That was
known
God awful
life
but he accepted it
And it was
"the way"

Re: Gertie in Verse: Certain Placed Rocks

Well, this was meant to be a one-time thing, but my compulsiveness dictated that I continue to create them-- each one to be the last. So, instead of cluttering up the forum, we have condensed all of these into one thread, henceforth referred to me as Gertie in Verse: A Series of Unfortunate Quotes, or, for short, GiV. Since this thread is primarily for my own enjoyment, I will most likely rename the thread to reflect the title of the latest entry. And, believe it or not, there IS a very specific method used to find the posts by Gertie...

Enjoy.

Seriously? That is the best one so far.

Post Re: Gertie in Verse: The Evil Fart

The Evil Fart

Thinking you're all alone
And
As a well-brought-up person
protecting all others
From the evil fart
And then
Right behind you
You hear
The unmistakable sound
Of a car window
going up.

I really like this one. It has its innocence and sweetness about it.

Froggies and Turtles

HA HA
HA HA
HA!

I wasn't the girl
She wanted either
Younger sister is that
I was the one
Who jumped in streams
Brought home
The froggies and turtles
Broke arms
On the skateboard
Fell out of bed
To break her collarbone
Went to neighbors
With the girl scout uniform.
I must've been
A mess
But a good one
I was fun.
