Jimmy McNulty.

I like the badass woman cop so far.
Kima Greggs.

I also like the main detective's partner.
Bunk Moreland.

gets off a murder charge because some high-roller guy (what's his face who is in just about everything now..Idris Elba)
Stringer Bell.

The Wire was the first time I ever saw Elba in anything, and I hated, hated, HATED Stringer so much, that it's really distracting now. Like, every time I see Idris Elba in a role (which is in basically everything), I think of Stringer and I get mad at him all over again.

got to the witness.

All of the cops are pissed because the detective guy squealed about Idris to a judge. Like, really pissed. That guy from LOST, Abaddon or whatever, is giving him an especially hard time.
Lt. Daniels.

Holy crap what year was this made? There are typewriters and pagers all over the place, lmao!! I predict that I will see a Blockbuster store at some point.
I think it was around 2000? But, the stories this is based off were in the 1990's.

Oh and awesome-ass Michael B. Jordan is in this as a young drug runner. He is like a little baby! Super young.
WALLACE!

So far I like it okay. I am not a big fan of cop shows in general but some of the characters are already interesting. I'm looking forward to the next one.
It's a slow burn, especially when you're meeting everyone and the plots are being set up, but when you get sucked in, you won't be able to stop.

For a little background, the show was created by two guys, one a reporter, one a former homicide detective AND public school teacher, from Baltimore. They had written a nonfiction book, and the show is based loosely on that.

One of the amazing things about it is how realistic it is.

So you're saying that McNulty shouldn't make bad decisions that get him in trouble?

What a concept.

They give Abaddon a crappy crew and an even crappier office space, which is kind of jacked up. Hopefully they wont be in that place for long.
I just had this yearning in my heart for early S1 of this show. I might have to rewatch now.

I still like Kima the best so far. She is badass and just has an "I'm over it" look on her face 24/7, lol. I love her.
I am completely unshocked. And yes, Kima is a total badass.

Dude who beat the murder rap is apparently the drug lord's cousin, but he keeps messing up. I predict drug lord will have to eventually kill him if he keeps being such a dumbass. Dumb cousin is sent to a lesser apartment building which he is not happy about. Baby Michael B. is there which I like (I really like him as an actor). I hope he makes his way up the ranks.
Nephew, not cousin. Drug lord is Avon Barksdale, cousin is D'Angelo.

Quote:

Idris is running ish at the Towers and from the way that the cops are acting my guess is that he has at least some of them on his payroll.

Oh, I forgot to mention last post about the preacher dude from Walking Dead and his dumbass partner. When we first met them I told my husband that I thought his partner's big mouth and I-think-I'm-much-cooler-than-I-am attitude was going to get them into trouble. Lo and behold, they bite off more than they can chew trying to do too much at the apartments and get their squad car burnt to a crisp. Somehow I don't think they're going to learn their lesson though.
LMAO. Dude from TWD is Carver (and I like him much more on this show than I ever did on TWD). His dumbass partner is Herc.

Re: Liz's First Watch: The Wire

BTW, next episode you'll meet one of the best characters on any TV show ever. Fair warning.

Good show. Season 3 & 4 is the best imo. Season 2 slows things down a tad bit. Hope you enjoy!

I would agree with that. Season 2 was a bit of a misstep but still entertaining.

Re: Liz's First Watch: The Wire

I didn't like S2 at all, although I know some people said that it was one of their favorites.

S3 and S4 were the best, for sure. If I had to pick one, it would be S3.
