Rest in Peace, Gregg Allman

From two sources, Gregg Allman has died.

Godspeed, sir.

For a limited time, Esquire is making their 1984 profile of Gregg Allman available, online, for free. Worth checking it out here.

Re: Rest in Peace, Gregg Allman

So, "Midnight Rider" has been in my head all day, and at one point my brain is at the chorus just as I read the tweet of someone I worked with 30 years ago QUOTING THE EXACT SAME LINE. RIGHT WHEN MY BRAIN WAS THERE TOO.

Sangria is a hell of a drug.

*Keeps on ridin'*

That was a nice read. Thanks. Interesting that he was called, "the blackest white man to ever sing the blues." Not only is that (if only mildly) offensive nowadays, I had to wonder if a little bit of nationalism didn't have something to do with it, as I personally think just a little bit more highly of Steve Winwood's voice for the blues. Jmo though.

________

R.I.P. Gregg, you did great work, sir.

Spoiler: notes
gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Should be noted that Paul Rogers is the only White vocalist ever given a Lifetime Achievement Award by Motown Records, citing him as the "Blue-Eyed Soul of Rock And Roll".
