Re: What are you reading?

I'm 100 pages in to Pillars of the Earth, and it's not a book I can't put down. It's taken forever just to get to page 100. Please tell me it gets better...I don't want to read 1000 pages of ho hum.

Re: What are you reading?

I have only the vaguest memory of what happens in the first 100 pages.

Tell me what you like / don't like about what's happening, and I'll tell you if that changes.

Re: What are you reading?

It gets much better. The beginning is slow.

Re: What are you reading?

Yes, it's slow. There's a little action thrown in:

Spoiler: mild spoiler
The baby born and abandoned in the woods. Then in a flashback, Philip's (or is it Peter's?) parents are killed. Now I'm at the part where young Peter (or is it Philip?) has been assigned to a big church but will be taking over a remote chapel that is part of the big church.

Also, what's with an 80 page chapter?

Re: What are you reading?

Oh yeah, the story hasn't actually started yet.

It will soon.

This is all background. Very long background

Re: What are you reading?

I finished the second book of the Iron Tower trilogy. Before finishing it, and re-reading the Silver Call duology, i'm taking a break from Mithgar to read Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game.

Still reading Into The Forest as well.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Re: What are you reading?

Let's see, I finished listening to The Secrets She Keeps, pretty good suspense. Then I finished listening to Girl Last Seen and that was not so good. After the reveal, nothing makes sense in terms of what would have had to happen for the plot to work.

Now I'm listening to Liar, and I'm halfway through Chris Bojalian's The Sleepwalker. It started slow but now it's pretty interesting, and I've enjoyed his other books.
