Re: What's New/The Postman Always Emails Once

Thanks for attempting to advise me guys. I think the wine is a red? I've been informed that I lack the tools required to open the bottle. I don't care enough to buy the necessary tools, so I'll likely end up regifting it at some point soon.

This week, I fail at adulting.

Who informed you about necessary wine tools? You don't need wine tools. You just need a corkscrew (corkscrews do not work in a logical manner, but they will get a cork out of a wine bottle). You apparently can also use your shoe or a hammer -- and we've all been there, no denying it.

My hub and I have been in Texas for a few days for a newspaper reunion. I miss Texas. I also miss newspapers.

Yeah, we don't do that there. Or, at least, I don't think we do...I've never been to one.

Really? I loved it.

I'm not entirely sold on moving forward in the series though, we'll see how the last 50-75 pages play out and then i'll think about it.

So to answer your actual question: terrible. The first book was perhaps pretentious but it was ambitious and i liked it; the second book has Roland on the beach for nineteen eternities and i gave up. Somebody offer to read Stephen R. Donaldson's Gap Cycle or kelly promise to finish ALL ten Thomas Covenant/Linden Avery books, or somebody get serious about some Sandman, or as far as i'm concerned Roland can F***ing rot there.

Wittingly or otherwise, you helped diss one of the greatest works of the English language. I was honestly afraid that WartyOne's shun might outlast the Sun. I am grateful that he is understanding and forgiving, and that you knew not what you did.

Just in case y'all didn't get it yet, here's a daily does of Mo weirdness:
Poor Roland

Is Sandman really considered one of the greatest works of the English language?

I liked Ender's Game, but not enough to keep going with the series. But sci-fi is not usually one of my favorite genres.

you didn't like the Handmaid's Tale either? Loved the book too.

you...don't care enough about wine? I think I just died a little inside. Now we've touched on something I truly feel strongly about.

The rest of the series is entire different than the first book. Everything about it from the setting to the characters. It veers off in a very different direction. The spinoff series about Bean is actually closer in story line to what you'd expect a second book in the Ender's series to be.

Truth.

I just told Mo in PM that Ender's Game is basically Vol 1 of Sandman. Cool and all, but you don't know what the REAL storyline of the series is going to be until the very end.

A corkscrew is the tool I was referring to. I don't have one lol.

I love The Handmaids Tale. I was trying to show my disdain for Matties opinion of it.

They are much easier to operate than a welder.
