Re: What's New/Happy Eclipse Day!

Here's my guess about why D hasn't been in touch with catnap jr's son. All summer his mom has been saying, "Have you contacted them? Have you gotten in touch?" and it is pissing him off. So he's not doing it. He'll show up next week and will be a perfectly normal, sometimes surly eighteen year old boy.

Saw some of the eclipse before it got cloudy. Quite cool, and the special glasses were very cool, even without the eclipse.

Also, as far as bringing things, maybe this kid is from a poorer family? Could be all he intends to bring is his clothes/toiletries/school supplies because its all he can afford and hes uncomfortable talking about it?

Re: What's New/Happy Eclipse Day!

We had a partial eclipse in So Cal. It's amazing looking at the crescents through the tree shadows. It looked like an alien landscape.

I was hoping for the same thing! When they showed the flair, I was hoping to see a little ship moving toward us. LOL!

Re: What's New/Happy Eclipse Day!

For those of you who got proper eclipse glasses: there's an actual organization called Astronomers Without Borders, who is asking people to donate their glasses instead of trashing them--they'll send them to poor communities in Asia, where there will be a full eclipse next year.

A few folks are posting their eclipse pictures with a little green space ship thingy that they swear was going around the sun. I really do think that it did.
A lens flare is what it is.
The first thing I said when someone posted a pic is ....."Hmm and aliens"

I believe that was the ISS, someone has a shot of it passing across the sun during the eclipse.

Lol me too, we were given phone numbers.

But one of those eerie, small world things had happened...I went to orientation for my college on a day in July, and I was in a bad mood, something about failing the math placement test and fighting with my boyfriend over our impending separation (lmao).

I didn't talk to anyone. But then one girl introduced herself and we chatted and I said I'd been totally anti-social all day and she said she promised herself she'd try to meet ONE person, and so she said hi to me.

Cut to August, the one person I met during all the possible orientation days was assigned to room with me. We'd already met when we spoke on the phone. It was surreal.

And we're still friends.

Nice! I'm so jealous. It was underwhelming here.

Plus... I either damaged my retinas or I'm pretty sure the entire internet changed fonts while I was outside.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what circle was what.

I was disappointed too. Not much happened here.

I do realize that...it's just that they've both tried to work it out and have hit a dead end. No place else to go. But I seem more concerned than they are, so I guess we'll see.

I just don't understand. I guess to me, applying and successfully gaining admittance to a good school implies some interest in the college experience and communication skills.

Could be.

Since they are all roommates, they can see each other's answers on the living preferences checklist. One thing we can confirm is that D is very accepting of alcohol use. (even though the school explicitly cites its own policies, it's still a valid question).

Maybe he's busy partying before he leaves his buds. I can relate.

I would NOT want to see that. Aliens scare me.

That is SO great. I'd donate them if I had scored any.

Isn't green like the last light you see when the sun sets over water? Something about refraction or some other thing I don't understand.
