Go hog with vid spam

I'm dedicating this thread to everybody who likes music both well-known and obscure, as a place to put songs that we enjoy as individuals. I'd prefer to stay away from massive top 10 singles, but if that's what moves you, feel free to add it. Personally i will be focusing on lesser-known songs by artists who are either obscure or well-known. No submissions are to be frowned upon nor will anything be deleted except in the case of videos so offensive that they violate the loosened forum guidelines.

I'm going to kick this thread off with an EXTREMELY controversial song by one of the most controversial rock acts in US history. I will be spoiler-tagging it because it truly isn't for everybody. I can't even post the name of the band in the open forum.

However, controversy is NOT needed. Please post anything that moves you in any way. Expect me to post kid-friendly stuff too; i'd like to see this thread become as diverse as possible.

Spoiler: HERE WE GO

That's The Crucifucks with Hinckley had a vision. Not a great start for the thread, i'm sure.

When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

A great song from a great album, largely forgotten, from one of the true greats of Rock & Roll history.

Freddie Jones didn't make a big splash but I love this album and this song made it the farthest, I think.

Re: Go hog with vid spam

Of course we also have Animal Collective, who recorded what was called the greatest album of 2009, with some reviews calling it better than the Beatles, Merriweather Post Pavilion. This is a newer song that I enjoy very much, called Golden Gals:

Much less experimental than some of their work, so probably a good song to start with.

ETA: I feel strongly that I will soon have many more posts in this thread.

Re: Go hog with vid spam

Ok, i'm going to post a few bands you probably never heard of that are among the most influential bands in rock history. I'll start with Mr. Bungle, the most recent and most well-known of the three. Not all members are known for sure, as with many bands in the era they performed in full costume. The only one known for sure is Mike Patton because his voice is impossible to hide. It was widely reported that John Xorn (of Naked City fame) played guitar for a long time, as well as at least one member of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band.

Mission of Burma. One of the most influential bands to never chart anywhere...

Re: Go hog with vid spam

This is a very political video of a very political song, short as it may be. The band called themselves the Minutemen not out of nationalistic pride, but because all their songs are roughly a minute or less. Discussion of this video is discouraged, please just enjoy. The Minutemen spent most of their career on tour opening for Black Flag, until the death of their songwriter D. Boone. Bassist Mike Watt went on to have a semi-successful solo career.

I love good music. Genre-ism is teh suk. F*** politics

ETA: My one complaint is that Waylon could've learned how to pronounce cavalry. It's not a biblical mount, it's a war complement.
