First moment of LOL-- if it's possible for a static electricity spark from your hair to combust the oxygen container, wouldn't they like, shave your head first or something? That seemed WAY too easy.

Oh. There's a grounding bracelet that prevents the build-up of static electricity. She just wasn't wearing it. I feel better now.

I feel like things are starting to happen--

No-face-girl is dead, and Will has a moment of clarity, at least figuring out that all of the copy-cats are connected and done by the same person. He just hasn't gotten to it being Lecter yet.

Crawford acts like he's worried it's Will (good line, though: "Is it mental illness, or is it just that his mind works so differently from most people's that we don't know what else to call it?").

But then Crawford pops up at Lecter's shrink's house. !!!!

I can't say too much about the visual symbolism-- you want that, we'll have to get Jane to come back.
I always notice words more than visuals, anyway. The antlers are getting out of control in Will's mind, but at least he isn't seeing the Pilot-Ep-Cannibal frickin everywhere anymore. Now it's just lots of antlers.

I have to say, seeing him suffer is heart-wrenching. Insanity has always been a big fear of mine, so watching him sink deeper and deeper is just horrifying.
It's interesting how his particular madness is going, though-- first the hallucinations about animals in trouble or animals in pain, now genuine fears that he is going too deep and BECOMING the people he studies/empathizes, it's very personal to him. Enough that it's the only thing making me hate Lecter a little bit (you know, what's a little cannibalism between friends, but letting someone lose their mind and just watching is cruel).

I don't know about fully bought in or not.
I like the characters, a lot, and the acting is FANTASTIC, but I feel like I haven't caught hold of the real plot yet, because this can't go on forever. Or, it feels like we're on the edge of a precipice with every episode, and not quite going over.
I mean, I'm certainly not going to stop watching, and it seems like it is getting better and deeper with every episode, but I feel like I'm waiting for something.
Well, I didn't feel he went really overboard until the first half of season 3. but by american gods it became too much for me

Okay, finished episode 12.

CRAZY.

Crawford fixed on Abigail as the copycat, but Lecter setting up Will.
His confession to Abigail was INTENSE.
"I was curious."
I feel like we just reached a point where Lecter's character comes together. I have been wondering what really drives him when he does all this random manipulative shit, but he really is just wanting to see what will happen.

And now he's going to kill Abigail and make it look like Will did it.

DAMN.

Re: Vonne Watches Television - Hannibal (post 945)

Done with the season. Holy shit.

The only thing bugging me really hard right now is Lecter's shrink. Does she know what he is? (To a further point, did she know she was eating Veal-Abigail? Because it kind of seemed like she did.) I had a gasp moment when it suddenly seemed like she knew, but then from her next words it stayed kind of ambiguous.

The moment that the pieces fell together for Will, FINALLY, that was glorious. When he said, mimicking Abigail, "Should we re-enact the crime?" (as in, "You be mom, you be dad, and YOU be the man on the phone"), perfect.

They are at least finally treating his swollen brain, thank god.

So we finally took the plunge but in the perfectly manipulated fall. Down to the fish lures. Lecter thought that much ahead to take trophies and make lures. Good times.

Crawford is an idjit.

Bloom's face when Will drew his f-ed up clock was awesome.

The acting is just really, really good.

But I'm also enjoying how this is clearly not a "true" prequel, but is so reminiscent in directing/writing/staging to both the books and the movie (down to Will Graham living with a bunch of stray dogs, etc).
In the final scene, Will gets off his bunk and says "Hello, Dr. Lecter" in a perfect Anthony Hopkins "Hello, Clarice" imitation. Good stuff.

I should go to bed because I have to work, but will pick up again tomorrow evening.
