My hubby and I love Bloodline! Also, House of Cards. I prefer the non-mainstream shows because as awesome as they are, and as much as you don't want them to end, the writers know to end them at the right time....before they jump the shark.

I heard The Crown is good.

I went to Netflix and desparately watched "Frontier" series. OMG, it was cheesy.
No period drama at all just a vehicle for sex and violence supposed set in the 1700's. But there was very little to suggest that time period other than the costuming.

Any good Netflix series you can recommend?

Hi 9mm, there are lots of great shows on Netflix. In my opinion Netflix is making much better tv than the traditional networks these days. Here's a few I particularly liked:
  • Bloodline - it's a show about a family in the Florida Keys, specifically it's about the black sheep of the family that returns and causes complete chaos in everyone else's lives. It's a little slow to get going but it's great. They've made 2 seasons and a third is being made now.
  • The Crown - show about Queen Elizabeth. The first season covers a few years before she became Queen up to a couple of years after she became Queen. It's based on true events. Second season is being made now. They are planning to make 6 seasons in total and will eventually finish up in modern day. It won the Golden Globe last year for best drama series.
  • House of Cards - American political drama. The lead actors - Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are amazing. I really enjoy this series, but it is dark, twisted and probably not for everyone.
  • Stranger Things - supernatural show set in the 80s in a small town that centers around 5 kids and a mysterious government lab. I absolutely loved this show, but it's a little out there. Second season is being made now.
  • Daredevil, Jeissica Jones and Luke Cage - three Marvel superhero shows. I know you like Gotham (DC superhero show) so you may like these. These shows might be a little grittier than Gotham though. I enjoyed all three of them.
  • Narcos - based on Pablo Escobar's (the famous Columbian drug lord who was one of the 10 wealthiest men in the world at the height of his power). Very violent and a lot of it is in Spanish with subtitles so not for everyone, but again a very well done show.
  • Sense8 - I'm not even sure how to describe this show. It's strange, out there and absolutely awesome. It definitely is not for everyone though.

Everyone's tastes are different but I really liked all of those shows.

Let us know what you end up watching and how you like it.

Re: Woody's: Frozen Pipes and Stinky Buns

Everything else is good, and now this looks like it's back to good.

Ok, on to the discussion. LOL
My hubby doesn't want to get involved with series on Netflix, but he's going to have to at one time or another. We get up at 6 am every morning so by 8pm we are just relaxing in front of the TV. We were struggling to find stuff to watch lately, but luckily now all our favorites are starting up again.

He's a fan of Naked and Afraid. It's a reality show on Travel (I think) Channel that puts two people in an isolated and desolate area without clothes or anything and they have to survive for 21 days. I can't imagine how any camera crew films them as there are so many pixilated shots. Anyone else watch this one?

Re: Woody's: Frozen Pipes and Stinky Buns

Hey there Tawaret!

I am always grateful for this place to say things you really don't want to on other social media places. Here it is.

I saw a blog from an artist who did self portraits while under different drugs. I thought this would be interesting to see and it was but it also shook me up. Holy <snip> he used a lot. He even went as far as huffing <snip>. He said he got some brain damage from all of this, too. A different self portrait every day or so. He did end up in the hospital. I don't think his experimentations were normal experimentations either because what he ended up with in the hospital being prescribed numerous psych drugs. He did currently disclaim that he only uses drugs he's been prescribed now. Well he abused those as well and did more portraits.

What started out as a curiosity for me turned my stomach in the end. This man was sick right from the get go.

While we all, I do anyways, enjoy seeing inside the artists' minds, seeing what makes them tic and create what they do, the enormaninity of this man's drug use was disturbing. He used art to promote his sickness is how I feel and it ended up making him sicker.

While such experimentation could have merits............ it certainly sounded like a Nazi experiment to me........... I felt bad for this guy as well.

Ok done.
Thanks

I have never done strong drugs other than the anti-anxiety pills years ago. Thankfully, my art is my drug.
