Re: This Is Us - NBC Tuesday

Randall's father was in Philly and it's a bus ride to Randall's house so I believe Randall is in Philly suburb

Re: This Is Us - NBC Tuesday

wiki says Randall lives in Jersey and was commuting into NYC for work. So maybe he was right in between the two cities, nightmare commute.

Re: This Is Us - NBC Tuesday

I haven't had a chance to watch the Kate-centric episode yet.

ETA: Watched this episode during lunch. Oh, and that'll be the last time I'll do that.

When Kate answered the door and it was Rebecca (I admit, I knew it was going to be her), that was a tough scene to watch without loosing it.

I liked how TPTB interspersed parts of "Number One" throughout this episode as well. I'm going to assume we'll get to see parts of "Number One and Two", during the final episode of the trilogy.

I've got a question that popped up during this viewing. Do we know what Toby does for a living?

Re: This Is Us - NBC Tuesday

I know they are trying to make it a cute thing with the whole Number 1,2 and 3 thing, but calling Kate Number 2 is just messed up. Any parent who calls their kid Number 2 for any reason is lacking some self awareness on that one.

Also, no kid wants to be anything but the #1 kid! Particularly triplets.

But this episode really made me cry, I think because I am an adoptive mother. And I was crying for Randall's dad and what he missed out and how it would have been so wonderful for Randall to have had his birth dad in his life all those years.

And then when Randall realizes that Deja needs to be with her mom because despite everything they could give her, her mom is still her mom.

And I am very glad that Kevin only got arrested and something really horrible didn't happen. I hope this is the wake-up call he needed.

I really do love this show. It has something for everyone.

I take solace that the portrayal took place in the 80s.

Remember, we're dealing with people in their mid-thirties. I don't condoned the idea of comparing the three kids, and I'd be curious to know if any of that contributed to what we see every week.

Brdmom, I was completely confused when William said, and we saw, him at the kids birthday's and such.

Then we found out he decided not to impose himself in Randall's live. It got me when he said he saw the three bikes and what that may've meant to Randall.

What else got me was Randall's visit to the college. How many times have we seen Randall dealing with being "black" in a white family and environment. He had the opportunity to go to Harvard, but it's obvious he attended Howard. Just because he saw people that looked like him.

Curious, how difficult is it for a "black" child to be raised by a white family? Honestly, I never gave it a second thought, but after watching this series, it must be hard.

Brdmom, initially I thought Deja was thinking of staying with Randall. When she told her mother she should leave and call the counselor in the morning.

But both Randall and 'Beth realized it was for the better that she go with her mother. That "departure" scene really got me.

I didn't buy this incident at all.

No way would Tess live home without telling someone where she was going. She would've asked Kevin if it was okay for her to leave with him, but obviously she would've asked her parents.

Hiding in the backseat of Kevin's car, drove the story along, but not in a good way. JMO!
