Doctor Who Series 10 Fantasy League

Doctor Who Fantasy League: Series 10
Hosted by Jane, with special thanks to Vonnegut.

Series 10 of Doctor Who returns this Easter weekend! To celebrate this, we present the Doctor Who Fantasy League for your gaming pleasure, with a few tweaks to the scoring and categories established during the pre-season last Christmas. What hasn’t changed? The highest score wins! (In the case of a tie, the earliest entry received wins.)

And what does the highest score win? The winner of the League will receive two DVDs that objectively represent the very best stories of your favorite Doctor (1 through 7) from the Classic Series. If you don’t have a favorite Doctor from the Classic Series, I will pick one for you. Second place wins a single DVD, as above, and third place wins a coffee mug. (Thank you, vonne!)

To play, you must select one item from each off the eight Categories, plus two Bonus items of your choosing, making ten picks all together. Jane will try to get the scoring done by the Wednesday following each episode.

Beginning with Week 3, you must change one of your picks prior to the official airing of the episode -- but you may not change a pick from a Category that you changed the previous two weeks. So, if in Week 3 you removed a pick from Category 1 and added a pick to Category 2, in Weeks 4 and 5 you would not be able to change your picks for those Categories. Also, by the end of the season, you must have made a change in every category, or you will be disqualified.

Please PM your Week 1 (and hence Week 2) picks to Jane, along with your favorite Classic Series Doctor, by 7:00pm London time / 2:00pm Eastern on Saturday, the 15th of April, 2017.

Re: Doctor Who Series 10 Fantasy League

The paragraph "beginning with week 3" confuses me. Do we not make new picks every week? Or us week 1 like our draft week and we stick with those picks until the picks start having bye weeks?

You will stick with your first set of picks for the first two episodes. After the second episode, you'll submit a single change to your lineup of picks every week. Oooh, lineup, that's a good metaphor -- you are assembling a "team" of picks for the season, which will only vary slightly as the season goes on.

So, say you pick "a" for every category, and "b" for groups 1 and 2 as your bonus picks. These will be your picks for Episode 1 and Episode 2 of the new series. Before Episode 3 airs, you will change one of those picks -- perhaps you want to swap "a" for "c" in Group 8. The following week, you might swap "a" in Group 1 for "d" in Group 4 (which you could do, as you already have a bonus pick in Group 1). And so on.

Re: Doctor Who Series 10 Fantasy League

I don't know anything about the current Doctor or his personality or routines, so anything concerning him is a straight guess. Now Matt Smith seemed more like a Doctor who would give hugs, but I don't know this Capaldi guy at all. Capaldi is still the Doctor, right?
