Re: The Crown - Netflix

Sorry to thread jack, but if you are around and could help out the Magnificent Seven on Monday, Ness, Liz, MinaKitty, Tawaret and I would really appreciate it.

On Monday, there will be a thread called "Forum Reunion" or some other thing that I hope you'll go and check out. We're trying to get people that haven't been on the site for awhile to come back and post, but that doesn't mean we don't want current people coming to join the fun! I'm hoping that on Monday, you can take a few seconds to post in the thread. Please include the name "Magnificent Seven" in your post.

Here's a link to the challenge announcement, since it explains it better than I could.

Thanks so much for your help!

Re: The Crown - Netflix

It really was a very well done show, and Claire Foy was great in it. It was not super exciting or groundbreaking. Was just solid writing and performances all around.

Re: The Crown - Netflix

I wasn't sure if was going to get into it but I'm totally hooked. I'm particularly enjoying Lithgow's and Foy's performances, but everyone is cast perfectly and the shooting locations are just amazing. I read that studio sets wouldn't do it justice so they found locations that are close to the real places. Apparently there are a lot of posh stand-ins for the royal halls, residences and cathedrals. Very well done.

Glad you're liking it Mr. Bill. I agree that Foy and Lithgow in particular stood out for me. I didn't think I'd like Lithgow as Churchill but he did an amazing job.

Re: The Crown - Netflix

Those were the days .. chain smoking with half a lung and between oxygen mask inhales while on death's doorstep. I know how hard it is to quit being an ex-smoker, but wow. It didn't help that the rest of the royal family comes in to King George or Queen Mary's rooms puffing away. To be fair, I believe they realized the effects, but its gone on too long to really care or make a difference.

Re: The Crown - Netflix

I was really impressed with the actor playing Edward. Edward was so sarcastic regarding his family but justifiably so, as ultimately being barred from attending the coronation. But watching the emotion on his face as he's commenting during the watch party of E's coronation in spite of the crap his family put him through was really well done. He was definitely happy with his choice of abdicating for Wallis, but he also missed the regalia of the coronation that he never had, and there was even pride as displayed in playing the bagpipes from the gates of his villa in France. Great stuff.

Re: The Crown - Netflix

I'm interested to see who they cast as J.F.K., I'm sure he'll play a significant role since we are now heading into the 60's. I'd imagine we'll see the Beatles clones at some point, lol.
