Welp...guess it will have to be 18-1 instead of 19-0.

I underestimated how much the Pats would miss Edelman, but this game clearly needed his spark. Defense was utterly flat, too. Certainly not the look of a dream team. Gillislee from Buffalo seemed like the one solid new addition, although Gilmore at CB and Cooks at WR showed what might yet develop. But mostly, it looked like a team that had not played together enough, and which didn't have any kind of rhythm.

Worst of all, Hodge kept true to his declaration of picking the Chiefs, and now he'll be insufferable.

Peggy, I thought Amendola (spl) did a pretty good job of being the Edelman clone. Then he went out with an apparent concussion and the WR core couldn't pick up the slack.

The game would've gotten out of hand if the Pats picked up those 4th and inches plays. Why didn't TB-12 do his usual QB-sneak? That's what I was expecting.

I honestly thought there would be to much going on for New England to concentrate on the game. Banner raising! Showing of the Lombardi Trophy! The Boggy-man in attendance (Roger Goodell)!

You guys have so little faith in me to stay above the pettiness. Well, you're right!

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Thoughts:

B. Loss of Edelman will be the biggest loss since Brady. Amendola is nice but gets hurt a lot. Really wish they had kept Carr, he would have had a chance to shine. What was a position of depth is a position of hunger now with Mitchell on the IR, too. Anybody hear from Calvin Johnson?

R. Andy Reid did a great job of "Bill"-ing Bill. Kept David Harris off the field, and the run defense suffered. Missed Ninkovich with nobody setting the edge. Chiefs have some speed for sure.

A. Brady looked lackluster. He and some of his receivers need time to get on the same page. Gronk also looked rusty.

D. Whenever this officiating crew has a Pats game, bet the other team. Even though the Chiefs got flagged for a bunch of penalties, they got away with sooooooo much grabbing and holding. It was a good strategy, and it frustrated the Patriots.

Y. Losing Eric Berry will be a huge loss for the Chiefs. He did a great job on Gronk, tough to replace.

Soup, I agree 100%!

I think the Cowboys got rid of Amendola for the same reason. You can't count on him being on the field.

What's his concussion status as of now? Will he play Sunday?

That was definitely mentioned by the announcing crew. The Chief's exploited the edges of the field.

The Chiefs will definitely miss his skills and leadership on the field.

Plus, didn't he miss every throw in the beginning of the segment? Wasn't he asked to hit Glazer?

Vick had a big arm, but he was never an accurate QB.

The Dallas Cowboys looked totally dominating last night. 19-3! They also won the time-of-possession battle.

Zeke rushed the ball 24 times, for 104 yards. And, don't get me started on our Defense. Held the so-called Giants "best" Offense in the NFC-East to 3 points.

How 'Bout Them Cowboys!

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Imo Mike Vick's crimes were reprehensible and even downright evil. On the other hand, there is something of a cultural aspect that mitigates it a little (but not freakin much), and he did his time for his crime, accepted responsibility for his actions and lack thereof, and has expressed remorse as well as gone above and beyond what was reasonably expected of him to try to raise awareness about the evils of dog fighting. With all that said, i wouldn't want to sit down and have a beer with him any more than i would with OJ Simpson.

I think he deserves a chance as an analyst at least. He's an intelligent man who understands the game well. He may be a good analyst. I'll be rooting for him to fail, though, not because i don't believe in redemption, but because i just don't like him, didn't like him before the scandal, and i can be a bit of a dick about that kind of thing.

ETA: I think he's a self-centered, self-satisfied prick who was never half as good as he thought he was, and that was only half as good as he could have been if he'd ever had a half gram of humility.
