The Lions are 2 and 0. Stunning! Let's see what they can do against the 2 and 0 Falcons this Sunday.

Tell me guys, are the G-men that bad?

Yeah, there were several dropped passes last night, but this Team was suppose to be the "elite" of the NFC-East. They can barely get out of their own way.

Dallas Cowboys next Monday night against the Arizona Cardinals. I should warn everyone now, there will be a test.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

irritated. keep the politics out of football. if some players wish to kneel, ignore them. they can express their opinions off the field, great, we all do that. whatever happens on the field (ie baseball players spitting, scratching, farmer honks), is on the field. IGNORE IT AND WATCH THE GAME.

otherwise yay, let's just make a pasttime another dull irritating political platform. well done prez and nfl. your ratings are already awful, throw another nail in that coffin. cable networks are clapping all the way to the bank for your idiocracy.

ZoW, the Patriots should've lost that game.

You (Houston) allowed two 3rd-and-forever first downs. That's how they lost that game.

I was pretty impressed with Watson, the Texans QB. He saved a lot of their drives with his feet. I think Houston has found them a franchise QB that will only get better with experience.

Raiders got bitch-slapped for 60-minutes. Couldn't believe how great the 'Skins Defense played. Not looking forward to the 'Boys visiting FedEx Field.

Damn Raiders!

Damn Liz!

Can't believe the Saints beat the Panthers. Cam looked awful! I can only imagine Mr Mo jumping up and down at the outcome.

I think the clock is running out on Marvin Lewis and the Bengals. If the Team doesn't improve by wk#6, he's out of Cincinnati. You heard it here first.

I checked our "Group Picks", and no one picked the Bears to beat the Steelers. Nor did anyone pick the Bills to upset the Broncos, especially remembering how they dismantled the Cowboys.

I guess we all should remember the saying, "On any given Sunday!"

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

I found this Sunday to be an odd one indeed. There was SO much focus on the national anthem for a non-playoff game. I mean, I know they play the anthem every week, but I'm not sure they actually broadcast it every week. I'm usually so busy at 12:55 checking fantasy lineups, and panic-replacing late scratches, to even notice.

It's a song.
I know it may "mean a lot" to some people, but come on. This may over simplify it, but is it on your iPod? Do you play it every night before you turn off the TV? Do you have a playlist of your "Best Anthems EVAH!!!"?

And let's be honest here. Week 3 game? Not prime time, and not the opener or anything? It's going to be butchered by some high school senior. I just don't care. At that time, I care about which running back is up against a weaker defense or who is inactive on the defense that might give my RB an edge. Until 1PM hits, everything is background noise. If the anthem is on, I might go so far as to comment on the note they missed, but otherwise, just background noise. I don't feel like I need to express myself as a Patriot (both kinds) by standing at attention in my parlor EVERY Sunday, and I scoff at anyone that says they do. You know you were in the bathroom for the 1PM anthem on week 14 last season. I mean, nature calls.

So, unless they raised Whitney Houston from the dead, or I have money on how long Lady Gaga's version is going to go, I don't care about the pregame anthem. Kneel, stand, stay in the damn locker room or take some footballs to the toilet, I don't care. Just get to the damn kickoff.

SIDENOTE:
I was in my kitchen putting the wings in the oven (we use Alton Brown's "steam and bake" method) when the anthem came on. I saw some guys kneeling, some standing, and gave it a "Meh." I think I cracked a beer, set the timer, and checked my lineups one more time. For all the hubbub, it was a pretty uneventful anthem at my place.

I feel that I should say, the guy that sang the anthem at the Pats game was pretty good. Operatic and bold. WAY better than the high school senior I was expecting. But I really don't remember seeing the anthem broadcast every week. Maybe I don't notice it, but I don't feel like that's a thing. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

hey now, stop that 'you' stuff. I am a Broncos and Cowboys fan. I rooted for Houston just because of all the stuff they are dealing with down there, they could use a morale boost.

I honestly don't get the controversy over the national anthem kneeling. But I thought the players association should have encouraged kneeling simply as a way to protest the blacklisting of Kaepernick. If I was a player I'd kneel until a team signed the dude.

If a sizeable chunk of the players kneeled in protest of that, there'd be no reason to refuse to sign him over something so petty. So many teams are in trouble at QB as it is.

If owners don't want players to kneel, take it up in the next collective bargaining agreement. but expect to give something up for it.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

It's already in the NFL rulebook players are to stand during the national anthem. It's flagrant rule disregard but overlooked because the NFL does not wish to tackle the practicing of civil rights argument.
