Hulu: Shut Eye

https://www.hulu.com/shut-eye

Plot Summary:
Charlie Haverford is a scammer with a small chain of fortune-telling storefronts and contracts building tricks for a family that controls the business in the greater chunk of Los Angeles. A blow to the head from a client's angry boyfriend intersects with a hypnosis session while auditioning a new "clairvoyant," and suddenly, a man whose entire life has been based on fraud begins to see and feel some very real and fundamental truths. Charlie's wife Linda is sick and tired of their mediocre life and wants to break away from Fonso, the single father who runs the Marks family's psychic empire, and controls the Haverford's future. Rossellini co-stars as Rita, the cunning, seductive, and sadistic matriarch of the Marks clan.

Re: Hulu: Shut Eye

Season 1 is available on Hulu. I thought it was pretty good. Had a bit of a lull to start but the final 3 episodes were really good and the ending was surprising. Season 2 should be interesting

Well I watched the first episode.

Spoiler: spoiler for first episode
I wasn't sure I was going to want to watch a show about people that just scam others. But then they added the twist.
I'll keep watching

Spoiler: I agree
I typically can't get into shows that root for the bad guy either. I think you'll like the journey, I'm expecting good things in season 2

Hmm. I'm really not feeling the show after this episode. She let the girl die like that? what scum. At least in Breaking Bad Walt evolved into a monster. But in this, hmm.

Spoiler: spoiler for episode 5
OK, that woman had it coming lol.
But he can't keep her damn cat. That can connect him to her death

Spoiler: spoiler for season 1
The pace definitely picked up. Batista teaming up with fonzo? I didn't see that coming.

The wife is scum for letting the girl die and so I'm sad she's still around.
I'd rather see our main man hook up with the doctor.

In the end I thought it was a decent show but I'm not sure it has enough of a foundation to get me to watch another season. The lead is a good actor but this part doesn't really suit him imo.

Yes the wife is ice cold. I can't imagine that relationship lasting. I'm interested to see the "save the world" type arc that I think they are developing.

Re: Hulu: Shut Eye

Shut Eye has plenty to offer its audience, but it struggles early on to find exactly what the focus of the series should be. Still, Jeffrey Donovan is reason enough to watch the series through to the end.
