Great show. Does anyone know if US TV will pick this up when it gets adopted as a series? (wishful thinking at this point)

Re: Sherlock on BBC - Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

I think there's plans to air the 3-parter on BBC America at some point. I'll link an article if I see one.

[io9] Here's an interview with Steven Moffat. It's mostly about his new Sherlock Holmes update, but does get into a very interesting discussion of how the Doctor and Sherlock Holmes are similar and how they're different:

Re: Sherlock on BBC - Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

The second episode was a little more slowly paced than the first episode but just as enjoyable. I think it's becoming readily apparent why Sherlock doesn't have any friends. Poor John can't even go out on a date alone.

I also really like the tilt-shift style cut scenes. I don't think I've seen that style of photography or cinematography, whatever they call it in TV, used in a show before other than the occasional cut scene on Adult Swim. Very visually intense show.

Re: Sherlock on BBC - Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

Watched the third episode last night. Unbelievable. I didn't think they'd ever beat the awesome of the first episode, but the third did. I hope there's more of these soon though I know there's none this week.

For anyone watching, I came across these two sites today and thought I'd pass them along:

The blog of Doctor John Watson

and of course

The Science of Deduction.

That last one plays into the third episode though I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it yet. Check out the site after you've seen the episode.

The third episode was spectacular. It was a ratings smash so expect more.

Re: Sherlock on BBC - Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

That's great news.

So, a question for those who have seen the third episode - Do you think he pulled the trigger?

Personally I'm torn. I think he's more than capable of pulling the trigger but I don't know if his ego would let him get out of things that easily. Hell of a cliffhanger either way.

ETA - Wait...

7 million? Wow. That's a pretty big number IIRC. Not too familiar with the ratings system over there.

AWESOME!! The final episode and the news about MORE!

Oh, and I loved the cliffhangery bit. I think he won't have shot because with more eps we need the Moriarty villain to persist. Or he could be in a coma... lol. I do think Sherlock could pull the trigger.

eta2: Bregolaaas, you need to get into Life on Mars & Ashes to Ashes. Thread TBM.

Re: Sherlock on BBC - Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss

Thanks a million for this thread.

I am a Jeremy Brett gal, and have yet to see Robert Downy Jr./Guy Ritchie's interp.

This series looks like the right fit.

Fingers crossed for arrival eventually to Netlix and/or Hulu . . .

I like the title "A Study in Pink"--a great way to play on Doyle's beginning . . . .

Martin Freeman won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dr. Watson in Sherlock. If you read further down that list, you'll also notice that Sherlock itself won a BAFTA for Drama Series.
