Good first episode. Kiefer was very good. His character may be a mild mannered guy, but he came off very strong with the Iranian ambassador.

I agree that it feels like the person or entity responsible for the attack might be domestic.

One thing that made me smile was Kal Penn saying to Kiefer that with Tom Kirkman as president, he was thinking of moving to Canada. The funny part is that both of Kiefer's parents are Canadian and Kiefer spent a good part of his childhood in Canada.

Honestly, I'm more afraid of the Aid. The guy made my stomach turn.
Actually, I think the aid may turn out to be OK. He seemed appalled at the general's suggestion of eliminating the new president and rightly so. He was present when Tom Kirkman talked to the ambassador and that was a very strong presidential demand and warning.

I was immediately invested with the new President mostly because of the Domestic changes he wanted to make.
I missed the changes he wanted to make -- what were they?

What was that guys job anyway? Was he just a part of the Chief of Staff's staff?

I remembered he had a great plan for the nationwide school system. IIRC, he also wanted to keep the endowment for the Arts.

I thought he was something like the Chief of Staff's right-hand man, but he might have some other title. I guess the Chief died along with the President and other Cabinet members.

That's what I took away from that as well.

But, that doesn't answer the question why this guy is still hanging around. Maybe that's why I get the impression he's a part of the whole thing. He's like a roach. They come out at night.

Re: Designated Survivor - ABC Wednesday

I'm really looking forward to this second episode. The preview looks intense. This could very well turn out to be one of my favorite shows.

Is that a real thing? Do they actually have a designated survivor in real life?
Yep, and his role would be 12th. There's a whole written order of who would fall into President, given enough unfortunate circumstances.

Well hello Mattie! So glad you're back.

So, what did you think about the second "designated survivor"? I don't think she was a cabinet member, so I don't get how she could have really been a "designated survivor".

IMO, this was another great episode. Sutherland continues to impress me -- maybe I'll write his name in this year.

Re: Designated Survivor - ABC Wednesday

I actually thought this was a better episode than the premiere. Had more heart!

Apparently, the Virginian Madsen character was designated by the Republican members of Congress as their representative.

BBL!

The scene at the Capitol wreckage was scary. Not the guy who supposedly had a gun, but just what remained of the building. I definitely think this was an inside job.

It's obvious the Maggie Q character is going to get the necessary info to tie the incident to someone no one expects. That's going to be a scene I'm looking forward to.
