Net Neutrality under attack - AGAIN

Once again, lobbies are working to make money for corporations on the back of individuals.

The new FCC Chairman is about to approve the prioritization of the web. (source) In brief, this means that those who pay more, will get faster and wider access to information. Those who can't afford much, will be screwed.

And those in power will be able to control WHAT you see at all.

Outside of dictatorships and totalitarian regimes, we are used to be able to see everything, and to be able to share widely.

Under these new 'rules' and 'freedoms' it will be easier than ever to squelch dissent. Just make it prohibitive for people who have something to say that you (the government and/or the corporation) don't like, to share.

Control information, control the population.

If you don't want your life to be entirely dictated by someone else's ideology, you may want to get involved.

Call Ajit Pai at 1-888-225-5322, and tell him to leave your right to access ALL information, alone.

Re: Net Neutrality under attack - AGAIN

It seems like it's always just a matter of time until those in power control information dispersal. They bought up all the major media outlets, the newpapers, the radio and television broadcasters. The internet is already largely controlled and policed, and i doubt anybody would really argue that it doesn't need policing. It seems like the progression will inevitably continue, but it also still seems like a fight worth fighting.

Thanks for posting, AZ. I'll make that call, and i hope the rest of us do too.

gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

There are roughly 30 hours left before this gets a vote.

Call.

Here's where, and a suggested script: click to see, scroll down for the nitty gritty details.
