Re: What's New/Splunking, Soldiers, + the Andromeda Strain

I don't know how to explain this. It may not be real.

This morning, I was sitting here, in the daily agony, and took 2 pain pills. Shortly after, I of course had to go to bed. Then I got up, tried to be a human, and said Nope. More pain pills. Back to bed (honestly, how and why do people get addicted to these things?)

So, eventually, I got up - swung my legs up and out, sat there so confused.

Wait, WHAT? That didn't make me want to scream?

It's been 3 or 4 hours now, and the pain has not, so far, returned. I told Sis that for sure it will come back like a huge wallop.

She chided me - don't be such a pessimist! This sounds like a very good thing!

Sure, for now. But after so many months of agony and near agony, it's very hard for me to believe.

Of course, I need the walker, but to not want to wince and bite my lip with every step, I don't know how to handle at this time.

What happened in such a short period of time? Like I said, totally confused.

Re: What's New/Splunking, Soldiers, + the Andromeda Strain

So, I missed the convo about soldier grandparents, but idc. I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity to brag on my granddad, may he rest in peace. He was a legit war hero.

My other grandfather was on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific, but that's all I really know about his service.

Don't go trying to dance the macarena yet, okay? Take it slow!

And i didn't intend to dress you down earlier, so i apologize for coming across a little harsh. I care about you and don't want you hurt any more than you already are. I hope you can understand that my post came from a place of love and concern not a place of anger.

Wow, Ness, that's quite the distinguished career. Very impressive service decorations.

My dad's dad served in both WWII theaters. He was in Paris for V-E day, then was shipped to the Pacific. He was injured in the Phillippines, an experience he never spoke about except for one comment made to me when we wento West Point for an Army-Navy game. We got there early to check out the museum, and he said of the Philippines, "I didn't think i'd be coming back home." Yet he healed, and served a while occupying Japan. He was a signalman like your grandfather, though certainly not decorated like that.

Like I said, it's a super long list. I suppose I could spoiler tag it.

I can't even imagine going into war. Even the movies scare the hell out of me.

Is it sexual harassment if “someone” asks a telemarketer what she is wearing?

Lasagna as an appetizer sounds good to me. All we did was eat, eat, eat! Surprised I don't weigh 300lbs!

Having both sets of Grandparents at a function was great. We had ALL the cousins over one time, had to rent a hall as we had to fit over 100 people. That was a rocking TDay. Remember when they would play Willy Wonka on TDay?

One present Christmas eve was always our tradition... I carried that to my family and love when my son eyeballs all the presents to see what one he wants to open. Never put the best ones out as they are for Christmas day.

I mean it would depend on what she is marketing, but in this “hypothetical” case... let’s assume it’s a home security system.
