Spoiler: read after watching

Good episode this. Rainn killing it as Mudd, great choice.

Liked the mean Klingon captain, I'm assuming that since she lived she'll want all sorts of vendetta against Lorca. The Klingons inflicting pain really made me wince, it's rough seeing someone booted in the face.

Awww they released spore-kitty to be free. Warms my heart

Oh, what a great choice, ZoW. And, because he was left with the Klingon's, expect to see him again. That's what I was eluding to in my post to Mr. Bill.

Initially, I thought that was the "white" Klingon from the previous episodes, but she was wearing "white" armour. Did Lorca intentionally miss killing her, or did he want her to remember it was him who got the best of her?

Yeah, that first guy had his skull crushed. Just damn!

So, does that mean every time they need to make a "space-jump", they're going to have to hook the Engineer up to the spores?

I hope to see Mudd and the Klingon captain again,
both quite good characters. Not sure on Lorca's motive, he seemed close enough to eliminate her if he wished too.

Yeah see that's why I think there's going to be complications with the engineer if they keep using him, like his frontal lobe will go all kooky.

I didn't quite get the last scene with the Engineer and the mirror.

Also were those the first ever Star Trek f-bombs?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/All Access Sunday

So I assume that this series is taking place just before (maybe 10 or 20 years?) before the original series. Harvey Mudd appeared in the original series, but is maybe a little younger here.

Also when Saru asked the computer for the most decorated Star Fleet captains it listed Jonathan Archer (from Enterprise) and Christopher Pike (who was Spock's first captain in the original series) but no Kirk, so presumably this is before Kirk's time.

I didn't quite grasp the foreshadowing either.

Initially I thought, moving from Location A to Location B at that rate, might leave a mirror in Location A, while everything is actually in Location B.

We've seen the "jump", what, twice? But, in both cases, we didn't see if there was a "mirror" left for a second or two. JMO!

Oh, and I caught those F-bombs as well. Without a doubt, the first two throughout the Star Trek mythology.

In the premise for the series, it states Star Trek: Discovery takes place ten years before the Original.

Nsguy, it took me a minute before I got a picture of Scott Bakula (spl) (Jonathan Archer), but because I knew the info I posted I realized who he was. And, wasn't Capt. Christopher Pike (Jeffrey Hunter) in the Pilot for the Original?

That's right Pike was in the pilot. He was also in the episode where they travelled to the planet they weren't supposed to go. Pike was in a wheelchair at that point and could only communicate with a blinking light.

In the JJ Abrams reboot movies, Pike is the original captain of the Enterprise that recruits Kirk.

Yeah, Spock highjacked the Enterprise to get Pike back to that planet. Damn, what was the actresses name who played Pike's love-interest?

Greenwood! Can't think of his first name.

Asking these questions about the Original gives me an idea for a thread in the "Text Arcade" forum.

This episode really goes against Trek in many ways. Previous captains probably wouldn't have forced a likely sentient being to do what the skinny guy planned. They'd prefer to find another solution or get out of the system the hard way.

I'd guess this was a very controversial episode for some.
