Ep 1 of Discovery was good enough that I knew I'd make time for ep 2 at some point, even though I still figured it was non-starter.

Well I just finished ep 2 and to my surprise, I'm hooked. So well done. The special effects were not subpar nor was the dialog or acting or direction. 'Not subpar' for a sci-fi series is a big deal.

Starting the next ep right now!

Glad you're a board DSOTM!

ZoW, was like you after the first episode, but now he refuses to go to sleep without wearing his new Star Trek: Discovery pajamas.

Please! I have Spock pajamas thank you so much. I don't think Discovery has put out their pj's yet. And my slippers are little shuttlecrafts.

very good episode

Spoiler: spoilers for tonights episode
They were hinting at the mirror universe quite a bit and I was excited when what's his name had called tilly captain at one point. I figured it would be a standalone episode but i guess we get more.

I really want to see the mirror crew in action in our universe too. I don't watch previews so maybe that's already a definite.

I love that this iteration doesn't hit the reset button like Berman/Braga Treks almost always did.

Spoiler: spoilery
very good episode. only boo-corny moment for me -
slow clap by bridge crew when Burnham kills Connor. in this universe i doubt that behavior would be tolerated in a bridge crew.

with the aggressive atmosphere, any sort of rah rah rah behavior to me feels way out of place. but hey, their universe, their rules i guess.
