After Earth. The Smith-Pinkett family film.

I enjoyed it, overall, though there were parts of the premise that went down sideways. The cgi was strong; the acting was above average; the story was a little trite but i liked it anyway.

6.5/10

The Jungle Book (2016 version)

This was juvenile but enjoyable to watch until the singing started with Bahloo and Mogli. Not a fan of that but the CGI was amazing. I couldn't tell which scenes were with live animals or just CGI's. I did notice Sheer Khan's CGI head on a live body though. This was a super nice treat I found on NetFlix

Very nice still

Did they keep "The Bear Necessities?" Loved that as a young kid.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched

Yes they did sing "The Bare Necessities" and it was alright, but I wasn't expecting it and sort of wished they didn't have it in this live action show.
They also had the Louie song. And Louie's voice was done by Christopher Walken! who also sung very well. Sort blew my mind.

I really loved this film, and I thought the CGI was as good as anything I've seen. Really beautiful to watch and I also enjoyed the songs more than I thought I would.

I highly recommend it.

Zootopia
8/10

This was a cute animated movie. The story line was very different, a girl bunny becomes a police officer and the adventure that ensued once she did, and a lot of fun to watch.
Well voiced over.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched

This isn't really a movie, but it's as long as one is at two and a half hours.

The Hittites
8/10

Done for the Smithsonian channel, it tells the story of this grand culture that was almost wiped from the world's memory save for a few mentions in the Bible until it was archaelogically discovered in the late 1800's.
Fascinating telling. Using easily decipherable cuniform as the language is very close to the Indo European basis for most Euro languages.

The only funny parts are some sorta weirdly performed operatic voices and zeroing in of kings eyes for too long.
It was made by a film group in Turkey.

Very good and informative. With re-enactments and some discussion.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched

I recently watched the Leo DiCaprio (sp?) doc Before The Flood (title inspired by a panel of a very famous Hieronymous Bosch triptych).

It was informative; it was moving; it was heartbreaking. I was particularly impressed by the fact that Elon Musk spoke exclusively (or at least was shown in this way) of trying to save what we can (through Tesla's technology, of couse), rather than pushing his other endeavour (leaving a ruined Earth behind via SpaceX).

Ordinarily i would deduct at least a point for having such an overt political motive, even if i agreed with the politics in question (which i do, in this case). However, i think that this film was crafted artfully enough to transcend that, and i'm giving it one of the highest ranks i've ever given. It really moved me.

9.5/10
