Sherlock - PBS Masterpiece Sunday


Crime drama series. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson's adventures in 21st Century London. A thrilling, funny, fast-paced contemporary remake of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic.

About the show:Co-created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the new Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as his loyal friend, Doctor John Watson. Rupert Graves plays Inspector Lestrade.

The iconic details from Conan Doyle's original books remain – they live at the same address of 221b Baker Street, have the same names and, somewhere out there, Moriarty is waiting for them.

Steven Moffat says: "Conan Doyle's stories were never about frock coats and gas light; they're about brilliant detection, dreadful villains and blood-curdling crimes – and frankly, to hell with the crinoline. Other detectives have cases, Sherlock Holmes has adventures, and that's what matters."

This three part series starts on 25 July. The episodes are titled "A Study in Pink", "The Blind Banker", and "The Great Game".

I've been a Steven Moffat fan since I watched Jekyll. It was only six episodes, but it was the most awesome six episodes of a show ever. To captivate an audience with only so few episodes and have people wanting more, shows true talent at storytelling. So I really do hope that this is shown on BBC America.

Perfect name for that actor, if it's his real name (and it probably is), even better.

I liked this. It was a bit cliche in parts, but on the whole, I am looking forward to the next episode. The actors are likable enough, and towards the end it got a sense of humour.

Have to check and see if we get this here. We get BBC Canada and they carry alot of the same shows.

Jekyll was sooo good!

Just watched the premiere of Sherlock, and wow. It was brilliant. Sherlock is brilliant. Watson ohh so great. I'm really looking forward to these eps. I wonder if there's a possibility of a full series pick-up? Moffat is busy with DW of course, but still...

I didn't really see anything cliche about it. Some cliches you cannot escape so I don't really count those. I thought it was brilliant and I love Martin Freeman so this was a no brainer.

I'm into it. Want more.
