Re: this or that

Science question?
I thought those were bands?

I would choose Duran Duran. That group seemed to define a portion of the era for me, along with Men at Work and Flock of Seagulls.

So please just help my memory out, that INXS guy, Hutchence, he died, correct? Then there was a large search to find a new member to fill his slot and that is how David Navarrone became part of the group. Or is this not correct?
Thanks.

Re: this or that

they are, you missed my dyson sphere question.

Yeah, Michael offed himself with auto exphysiation (choked himself out while masturbating to be precise.) I don't think it's Dave Navarro who joined the band tho, this guy was from Simon Cowell's show.

Re: this or that

Oi what a way to go.

Thanks for the correction. David Navarro. I looked him up on Wiki and I first met him (ha ha met him on tv) in a show that was competing with American Idol. They had some fantastic competitors on the show.

Quote:
Navarro co-hosted with Brooke Burke, two seasons of the Mark Burnett television series: Rock Star: INXS and Rock Star: Supernova
And I see that is where I got the INXs reference.
He had a rough life as his mom was murdered when he was 13-14.

But if choosing between musicians, I'd pick Navarro over Simon Le Bon as Le Bon was mostly a singer and Navarro a guitarist and more.

Re: this or that

Hungry Like The Wolf, all by itself, is better than INXS's whole catalog, in my humble opinion. I don't dislike INXS, nor give a crap about how their singer died, i just think HLTW is one of the true giants of rock hits.

Snow Patrol is cool, and that's one of their best, but i'd take The Cars. There was something so special about The Cars: they were a band that could be found amongst the record collection of many diverse collectors: the rock collector, the punk collector, the new wave collector, even the prog rock guys, and i'm probably forgetting a few too.

How about comparing two bands who never had hits but are considered highly important bands that inspired so many others? Mission of Burma v. Television?

Re: this or that

As a fledgling copy editor, I worked at a newspaper that had a Saturday "screamer" edition aimed at airport sales (big headlines, crazy stories). I loved working on it, except one night there was a story about autoerotic asphyxiation, which I had never heard of (midwesterner). The headline involved 36-point type across six columns, which means you need all the words in the universe to fill the space.

The good thing was that "autoerotic asphyxiation" fit, even with a verb and some context. The bad thing was that the last thing the guy I carpooled with said as he dropped me off was: "Sure hope you spelled it right."

All night long, recurring dreams of writing "autoerotic asphyxiation" in cursive over and over again. I should never have gone out with that guy. The signs were all there.

I like the Snow Patrol song.

Re: this or that

It's hard to choose between those two songs. The only choice would be in choosing an era you prefer. But both of them are gut wrenching and nicely done.

Maturin I do appreciate your humor on auto-erotic asphyxiation. According to my computer, it is spelled correctly.
