Re: Shooter - USA Tuesday

Not sure why, but I'm liking this series.

Now granted, I only watched a S1 synopsis, but I'm really enjoying the 2nd.

I also like how they've given the S2 and overall arc, and again, I'm totally involved.

I truly love the Bob Lee Swagger character, and am in love with his wife (Shantel VanSanten). What a babe!

I also like how they've made the Omar Epps character, Isaac Johnson, a continuing part of the whole series. If you remember from the movie, Bob Lee killed everyone involved with his case.

Oh, and making "Memphis" a female was a great choice.

Again, I maybe the only person watching, but I'm enjoying myself.

I'm watching too. I haven't watched the latest episode yet, but so far this season is an improvement on the first. I'm still disappointed in the show relative to the books, but I enjoy the books so much I'm going to keep with it.

I think one of the drawbacks of the first season was the bad guys were lame. This season the bad guys aren't developed as much (so far).

I think Ryan Phillippe is doing a decent job as Bob Lee and the secondary characters, Memphis, Omar Epps, Bob Lee's wife, etc. are ok.

Glad you're still watching.

Nsguy, how close did the first season stay true to the book?

Shooter - USA Tuesday

My wife and I both enjoyed the Mark Wahlberg movie, so we really didn't expect much from the series. But we burned through Season 1 on Netflix in less than a week. Really enjoyed it, and the climactic showdown with the other sniper (Desmond Harrington) was exciting. Very well filmed.

We're watching Season 2 and I'm enjoying it but not as much as S1. This week picked things up a little bit. One thing I'm not really liking is the overuse of Shaky-cam this season. There is more hand to hand combat and it's probably an attempt to make the show feel grittier and closer to the action, but too much shaky-cam only serves to remind me of how The Shield set the bar ridiculously high for use of it.
