New Star Trek TV Series: Star Trek: Discovery

Looks like CBS is bringing it back with Kurtzman and Kadin at the helm. Sounds like it's going to be a whole new set of characters and based on current events/topics, as previous series have been, since the beginning.

Wonder what they are going to call it.

I certainly hope it is better than the last 2 attempts. I did not really care for either Enterprise at all or Voyager at the end of its run.

Eh, while recovering from knee surgery, I watched the entirety of Enterprise, and it wasn't bad at all.

Of course, that might have been a result of the massive amounts of Percocet I ingested at the time.

I liked Enterprise.

Didn't do Voyager and only dabbled in Deep Space.

I'm kinda the opposite. I didn't care for Next Gen or Deep Sleep Nine.
I liked the early years of Voyager & Enterprise.
IMHO Enterprise had a great premise spoiled by all the time travel BS.
Hopefully the new series will be good. Wonder what time it'll be set in?
Will they go after the Next Gen or earlier like before the 60's series?

Re: New Star Trek TV Series: January 2017

If CBS is going to require a monthly subscription to their CBS All Access streaming service to view it, I think I'm going to pass. If other networks join the bandwagon and create their own exclusive streaming services, this may have a major impact on open services such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, not to mention having to subscribe and pay for multiple services. Network shows make up a good portion of the open streaming services and I'm afraid those shows may disappear as a result. I don't know, maybe CBS will distribute it eventually.

Re: New Star Trek TV Series: January 2017

“This new series will premiere to the national CBS audience, then boldly go where no first-run Star Trek series has gone before – directly to its millions of fans through CBS All Access,”

I took that to mean it would run on broadcast and then be the first Trek to go to streaming.
