Re: The Orville - Fox Thursday

I was gone on vacation and didn't get a chance to comment here.

I just watched the episode with Charlize Theron called PRIA
Gosh, she is so beautiful, and of a natural body shape. She wasn't super thin, but .... womanly. I liked that a lot.
But the subject matter was amazing how she saved them from death of the black hole mine field, but that's not exactly what it was called. The CGI of those space bubbles was also beautiful and I think a negative filter was used to create it.
I did get lost at the end when the worm hole was destroyed, so that meant that she never came and changed history, but she did because everyone on the Orville was alive. That was wonky science and slip shot explaining.
But Isaac and Gordon and the practical joking was truly funny. There were more little verbal zingers in this episode and I caught them all but did not remember them.
Hodge that dangling foot was hilarious.

Don't you think that Isaac sounds a lot like Data for ST-NG? I always think it is Brent Spinner, the actor who played Data, but it is not him.

OMG, does Vickie know about these flip flops?
I'd like a pair myself.

It certainly does, but I don't mind. It makes my mind whir and try to figure out how it is made.
Maybe Captain Ed will be ordering an update of the bridge soon and more technology will be added.

Thought this was a pretty good episode as well.

I'm sure everyone who watched the episode new there was something up with Pria. Yeah, it was kind'a cute watching Cmdr. Grayson go thru the ex-wife thing when a girl is interested in her ex-husband.

It was funny too, to see how they got into Pria's room. "Housekeeping"! That was pretty funny.

I also found the prank pulled by Isaac hilarious. Especially when Gordon was asked to come to the bridge.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing that Seth had lots of pull. Maybe these actors like the show and are trying to add their weight to help it survive.
I am certainly liking it more and more. It is now possibly my favorite new show.

These kind of ontological paradoxes are rife in popular sci-fi shows, and i think Orville was just giving a nod to the tradition. LOST's own example was the compass that passed between Locke and Richard Alpert.

We always reference the pocket watch in Somewhere in Time (one of our favorite movies) when talking about time travel paradoxes. It has no origin, but exists in an unending loop. lol.

I've not heard of this so could you please explain it more to me. If it is as you say, a nod, then I love it. The "nods" are like Easter Eggs then.

A movie I enjoyed until C Reeves accident. There have been some photos floating around the internet that show evidence of time travel, ie., someone holding a cell phone in a 1890 photo. So that must be an ontological paradox.

This next Orville seems to feature the other man at the helm with Gordon. It's about time we see more of him than a fist bump scenerio.

Re: The Orville - Fox Thursday

Mr. Bill just kinda summed it up for you. Jackface did a pretty decent piece on the ontological paradox in LOST here: http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=60413

Although it's worth noting that the paradox doesn't have to be an item, it can be a person or even just a piece of information. Loads and loads of stories involving time travel wind up involving at least one.

Hehe, I really miss those in-depth discussions and theories, although in the end they turned out to be based on a very flimsy world structure.

Re: The Orville - Fox Thursday

KRILL

Krill was very enjoyable and a bit of a seat edge episode.

Wasn't the Krill ship enormous? The CGI of the two vessels together was good. I can't help but think back to the ST flip flop with that scene in mind.

So instead of the United Federation of Planets, we've got the Planetary Union or the PU. Rotfl. Tongue in cheek? I stink think so.

When Malloy scratches his Krill head, it looked like a rubber mask and I appreciated that. Then Bortus, he is so freaking good, eating all those weird things with such a straight face. rotfl again.

What did you all think of this episode?
Not much science in it compared to the last epi.
