Re: Marvel's Jessica Jones - Netflix

I'm pretty excited about this.

Mainly because David Tennant as a villain, which makes me wonder if Netflix has been reading my diary.
But, even though I never got into comics, I watched Netflix's "Marvel's Daredevil" this summer and it was surprisingly great. I skimmed the reviews for this and it looks like it will be in the same vein. Probably going to start watching this evening.

For this thread, it might be a good idea to use some spoiler tags. If you want to talk about whichever episode you're on, just tag it "Episode 1" "Episode 2" etc.
If you don't know, to do a spoiler tag:
[*spoiler=Episode number]What you have to say[/spoiler*]
WITHOUT the asterisks *

Re: Marvel's Jessica Jones - Netflix's

I just finished episode one. Good cast, I like the lead (Jesse's GF from Breaking Bad), so far it's a really slow burn, but engaging. Considering how fast I went through Daredevil, I should be done by Sunday.

I try to watch everything My Doctor, David Tennant, is in. And he's surprisingly a very good villain. I'll probably start watching some time over the weekend.

vonne
Spoiler: not spoilers just a response
So, regardless of what episode you watched, spoiler tag your comments and questions like this? And then, those reading those comments can address the poster, and spoiler tag their responses, right?

vonne
Spoiler: example
I have it on good authority that TPTB do read your diary. Most of it is redacted as it probably should be.

Re: Marvel's Jessica Jones - Netflix

Sandi-- yeah, I just think it's a good idea to put any episode information in a tag so that people can talk without spoilers and still watch at their own pace. Especially something like this, where all episodes are dropped at once, but we don't have episode threads.

So, I watched the first ep. Sorry Ness.

Spoiler: episode 1

I'm in.
So we've established that Jessica is a wreck, she has sex with her tank top on, she recites street names to calm the PTSD flashbacks of Kilgrave, who had her prisoner once but then "died."
I'm guessing the blonde chick who gave her the money is her sister?
When it started, it looked like the show would be really episodic, with each episode using a new "case" that she's working on to slowly advance a season-long plot, but now I'm not so sure.
Just having these little glimpses of Tennant is agonizing. More please soon.
Why was she stalking the bartender/his bar?
I also don't know what's up with lesbian lawyer and if I should have caught something from the one chick meeting her for their date and the blonde chick staring at her.

So is her superpower just super-strength? I hope we get a good backstory soon. I think they did the Daredevil backstory really well.

And I want to know more about how Kilgrave's power works. At first when Hope was on the bed, I'm thinking that she isn't able to move physically, but in her head she wants to. But then when Jessica picks her up, and she's fighting and screaming to stay, it's like, oh, she could have moved physically, she just couldn't desire to do it mentally. That's messed up.
Then when Hope shot her parents in the elevator, it was like she was in total trance-state and didn't come back to herself afterwards-- or did she realize what was happening as she was doing it?
It seems at this point as if he does have to give a verbal command ("he told you to not move" and the flashback scene at the restaurant). So he told Hope beforehand what to do in the elevator? That would require a pretty good idea of how events were going to play out.

Going to watch ep 2 as soon as I can.

I've only seen the first ep, but it looks like it's going to be really cool.
