Aw. I've never had green tomatoes that I ate. I did put them into a paper bag, my green tomatoes, along with a ripe apple and wait for their polyethylene gas to help ripen my "maders". They did ripen but weren't as yummy as the vine ripened one.
Ok so what did you do with the green tomato, 216?

Poblano peppers are fantastic, and you can do SO many things with them. My favorite is to par-steam them, stuff them with seasoned yellow rice and cheeses, then batter and pan fry them in my old cast-iron skillet. Not the healthiest thing that can be done with them by far, but damn it's good!
Mr Mo you must have the right attitude with those cats. Do they come up to you and sorta friend you? You probably allow them to do that and not want anything more from them, like for them to allow you to pet them.
More bar cat stories please.

Still.
Not a single tomato baby. Flowers though. I do think we had too many leaves in the garden and they didn't decompose properly. Many of the nutrients needed for the plants went into the spring and summer decomp of leave imo.
Hence my very late garden
But I did get a cute little zucchini

Ah ha, sounds really delish, both ways.

..."what did you do with the green tomato..."

Got picked yeaterday, red as a wagon. Even now it waits quietly for the perfect sandwich upon which to work it's juicy trick.

We lost about half of the crops due to the recient deluge; had to rip up the entire row of squash, everything was swollen, split, and rotting - too much of a good thing.

Brought a bit o' the harvest into day-job for the rest of the people-under-the-stairs crew: various tomatos, eggplant, onions, and garlic.

Mmm, I do hope your sandwich for that perfect tomato include bacon, lettuce and mayo.
The rain has been heavy here and the gutters are down at the time, so my front garden was under water twice, however, all the submerged veggies look very happy now from their big drink of water.

That's too bad about the crops that swell and splint. The rot you had must have made you feel bad.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I'll smile and wave, then ignore them til they come over and rub on my leg, then i'll bend down and scratch an ear. Next thing you know, i've got a new BFF.

That's awesome.
I can just imagine an episode of Naked and Afraid being filmed in FL and they are wondering around a wooded section and gloriously come upon this garden. Yummy for them.
It looks very cool right there in the middle of the woods.

I remember Tawaret telling me one time she was picking cucumbers and she bent down to grab on and touched a snake! Yoikes and shivers. She said you never walk barefoot in the grass there, and that is something that happens alot here in Michigan, walking barefoot in the grass.

My husband is keeping the tomato leaves picked nicely so as to produce good sized fruit instead of numerous fruit. Something about a growth in between the certain shaped leaves. That is a technique I do not get yet and I can hardly explain it. He is also training our butternut squash to grown up a 25 degree angled trellis.

I've got to get a picture here for you all. I'll try today.

We do that too. It's called suckering. You remove the lower branches to encourage quality rather than quantity.

Re: Woody's: One anti-inflammatory from blowing up!

Someone gave us 15 tomato plants. I mean, come on....15 plants? I thought we would never be able to eat so many tomatoes! But, we've only gotten one, so far...and it was tiny...like a cherry tomato.

When it rains, it pours. You'll be drowning in maters soon. I suggest looking up good canning recipes. I saw one for bourbon bacon tomato jam that I'm dying to try.
