I found it unnecessary and much less than clever. Personally I would have thought it much better had he come in and played the most non Ed Sheeran character possible.

Apparently Maisie Williams is a huge Ed Sheeran fan, so they did that scene for her.

It's bad for a TV show when you start doing cute stuff like that. Maisie's fandom should have no influence on casting or script decisions, in my humble opinion.

Like I said though... if you're determined to do it, making the character atypical of what one would expect from the real life person is what I would have preferred. Unless that scene develops into something more, I found it frivolous, if not quite pointless.

I agree, they could have just bought her backstage passes or something, lol. No need to shoehorn him into the show. I liked the scene for what it was, the bad acting aside. It hopefully showed her that not all Lannisters/soldiers are bad. She seemed kinda close to bordering on psychopathy after the Freys.

I don't know. I think most of Westeros requires first-response psychopathy.

I didnt realize Ed Sheeran was in GOT until the internet told me so today. I give that few shits about him. The only part of that scene that stood out wad how funny it was when Arya just blurts out that shes going to kill the queen. The rest was pretty useless.

Well they were Lannister soldiers. Kinda shows how damn fierce she is to not give a damn mentioning she's headed to kill their Queen.

Re: Game of Thrones S07E01 "Dragonstone"

I think that it:

1. Showed Arya seeing a bit of humanity in a Lannister soldier. They went out of their way to tell us that these were just regular kids, unarmed, kind, and not yet hardened by war. She will probably go through some moral struggles at some point in her revenge slaughter because of situations/people like this. Or not, we'll see.
2. Showed Arya being underestimated. They couldn't even wrap their heads around this little girl being an actual threat to the queen. I think we will see a lot of that.

Re: Game of Thrones S07E01 "Dragonstone"

Liz... They were soldiers wearing armor so I'm pretty sure they were armed even if weapons were not prevalent in the scene.

I am also not sure we needed the affirmation that Arya wouldn't be seen as a huge threat by someone not knowing her.

Just my .02.. I get how they tried to make it have relevance, it just didn't really work for me. We've only got 7 episodes so seeing non critical filler material doesn't really thrill me.
