Coach K just lectured the kid a little, no biggie, but I guess Grayson "I Trip Thee" Allen was a model of sportsmanship.

Re: College Basketball

Weekend before last housemate Howard's partner-in-crime Terry came over to chill (and shirk his responsibilities at his place) for a few days. All the college hoops games on, I was doing something in the kitchen, he's like "Yo, Indiana and Kentucky. What do you think?" I thought for a sec...replied:

Two big state colleges, proud basketball traditions, right now there's barricades and barbed wire on the bridges over the Ohio. They are only hurling insults across, but both state governors have sent in the State Police and the National Guard to de-escalate the situation, they don't want it to get ugly, the people might start throwing politicians. At the town of Madison some trucker is trying to cross but they won't let him. He's pleading "I...I...I just need to get this load to Nashville.", the cop points west, says "Detour through Illinois."

Re: College Basketball

Pretty sweet that Northwestern earned their first bid to the NCAA Tourney. Julia Louis Dreyfuss and hubby have been in the stands all season cheering for their benchwarming sophomore son, Charlie Hall. When their bid was announced, JLD tweeted: "We're going to the dance, boys!" along with a picture of her doing the famous Elaine dance from Seinfeld. Her husband and her met while attending NW. The other night, Charlie got in during garbage time- and the crowd know who his mom is, so they were really rooting for him to get to take a shot attempt. He did not, but he did get not one but two rebounds in two minutes of play. The proud mama beamed with pride over her son's accomplishments. Kinda heartwarming. It would be quite epic if they could meet up and beat Gonzaga in the 2nd round. I have them losing their first game, but I hope that I'm wrong- b/c meeting up with Gonzaga would be a true Cinderella story in the making~

I'll be pulling for NW and other teams in my general vicinity- Purdue, Wisconsin, & Notre Dame.

Final four predictions? I went with Duke(2) vs Arizona(2), and Kansas(1) vs UCLA(3)

UCLA(3) winning.

Re: College Basketball

Everyone knows Julia Louis-Dreyfuss but nobody remembers Brad Hall???

Okay, sure, he had the bad timing to replace Chevy as host of Weekend Update, but someone had to do it. While Chevy could pass off to Gilda with her quirky characters or swap ad hominims in lieu of political discussion with Jane the unfortunate Hall was limited to listening to Tim Kazurinsky inform the world about "Sniglets", words which should be in the dictionary but aren't.

Re: College Basketball

So long Coach 'Zo, please welcome long-time Jim Boehiem assistant Mike Hopkins as the new head coach of the Dawgs:

Romar had one of the longest runs at Hec Ed but he's lost it in the last few years, no tournament appearances for six straight seasons.

Re: College Basketball

SUNYAlbany Lady Danes made it to the big dance this year!

:

They drew a 16 seed, though, and in the first round they faced... UConn Lady Huskies!

Still, it's a big deal for this school even just to make it to the tourney.

Re: College Basketball

UConn Women knocked out by Miss State. How about that.

The Men's NCAAs has been a blast, to say the least. Zags and Heels in the Final.

Heels by a lot?

_____

SUNYAlbany Lady Danes made the dance this year. 16 seed... first matchup was with UConn, if you missed it... nobody could really blame you.
