Re: The Exorcist - FOX Friday

For years I have been a member of a paranormal research team You know Robb Demarrest from Ghost Hunters International? He is a member of our group. One of my best friends (Tim Yancey) has most of the TV "personalities" on his speed dial. Not name dropping (or trying not too).

We are actually dealing with a case right now of a lady whose boyfriend feels she is possessed. We were talking about this show at our meeting the other night. I was not there for the preliminary but a lot of what she is doing is similar to what is going on in the show. This lady suffers from brain tumors and we feel that may be a catalyst to the behavior she is emitting.

Wow! That is really cool and really interesting. I don't know that I would have the courage to investigate things that go bump in the night -- sounds scary.

Poor woman. I have heard of brain tumors causing all kinds of aberrant behavior. I hope it's resolved quickly and the woman's suffering ends.

Have you across any other cases of possession?

Not anything real. Then again 99.9% of cases we deal with are not anything more than a cry for help or attention. Especially this time of year.

Re: The Exorcist - FOX Friday

You know, the movie, The Exorcist, is based on a real-life story. I think it took place in Saint Louis, MO -- I could be wrong about the location.

So, now that they've tied the series to the movie, the movie information should be considered canon, I suppose.

Re: The Exorcist - FOX Friday

Thanks for the link, Vickie.

What do you think is going on in this show with the pope's visit? It seems to me that one lady with the money is up to no good, even though she appears to be very friendly with the higher ups in the Catholic representatives. I also wonder about that bishop, who keeps saying Casey needs psychiatric help.

That is not abnormal for the wealthy to be highly involved in the church, pay for their sins...LOL

I think they are setting up a fight between the "very good" and "very evil"

Let's hope the pope is "very good".

Re: The Exorcist - FOX Friday

The title of this episode, "Star of the Morning" refers to Lucifer, IMO. LINK

Well, well, well ... Angela's/Regan's mother arrives on the scene. (Chris MacNeil is played by Sharon Gless of Cagney & Lacey fame.) Angela is right to suspect her mother's motivation as shown earlier in the episode, she used her daughter's ordeal to promote herself. I think that interviewer's question to Regan -- whether or not she could lead a normal life -- forced Regan to look at the situation and realize she would always be "that" girl -- mainly because her mother would make sure of that. So she ran away. I don't blame her one bit.

Angela's husband is wrong and yet right at the same time. I don't think Angela keeping this a secret from him was wrong and in fact, probably helped Angela lead a normal life. So any resentment for that is misplaced, IMO. However, I do agree with him that she should have told him when they first suspected something going on with Casey.

It looks like the older daughter is coming around to entertaining the idea her sister is possessed. I don't think she totally believes it yet. I think it will take actually witnessing Casey in full swing for her to become a believer.

Thankfully, Father Marcus found Casey. That was a cool scene when he had Casey in the water and tried to drive the demon out by baptism. It looked like there was an underwater explosion. Then when he raised Casey up, she looked "at peace" if only for a short while. And all those dead fish floating around!

I think Father Tomas' lady love may be in league with the Friars Club or whatever that group of people call themselves. If she truly loved him, she would stay away. He's already told her he wanted to remain a priest -- she's only there to tempt him and unfortunately he will give in to that temptation. Father Marcus made the right call on that -- Father Tomas' faith is not strong enough to carry him through an exorcism.

I was glad to see Father Bennett investigating that group. But, I fear they may try to take him out so he cannot influence Rome and get the Pope's plans on visiting changed.
