Re: Baseball - It does the body good. (Official Baseball Thread)

Hey lurk... it most likely will be televised. I'm guessing by ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. They also televised the Little League World Series as well.

Here's the WBC's official site... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/wbc/index.jsp

EDIT: I was thinking the same thing until you said it about how your house must be during October with Yanks and Braves fans under the same roof. But we all know who wins the bets. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7........ 26.

Diehard Orioles fan. Have been since Palmer,Martinez, singleton,, and Flanagan. Before the great Cal Ripken. Isaw Tiger's Al Kaline get his 300th hit, LIVE, in Baltimore. I think I was 2, so I don't remember ANY of it.I hate the Yankees.

Unless it has changed, the Yankees are the most loved team in all of baseball... but also the most hated.

I lived in Baltimore for the first 25 years of my life....and was within 15-20 minutes walking of Memorial Stadium. Baseball is one of my favorite things. One of my best memories was going to a game with my mom and 2 friends. The 2 people in front of us were Yankees fans. Yankees got a hit and they stood up to cheer. While they did this, my mom quietly reached over and pulled up their seats....boom - on the ground they went. (Imagine this with a very very petite gray-haired old woman) When they turned around to complain....she looked at them in that certain way only older women can do...shook her finger at them and very politely told them that "you don't cheer for the Yankees in Memorial Stadium while I'm around". They were very subdued the rest of the day.
I try to never miss an O's game that is on TV. I still have trouble with the Star Spangled Banner....when not sung in Baltimore, it just seems like it is missing something there in the middle.
Only a few more weeks until Spring training!!!!!!!!

Re: Baseball - It does the body good. (Official Baseball Thread)

My experience at an Orioles' game was at Oriole Park about 3 or 4 years ago. They were playing my Phils, so the stadium was overridden with us Phils phans. There were fights breaking out everywhere and the Eagles chant being sung all over (E-A-G-L-E-S! Eagles!). I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I'm truly proud to be one of those obnoxious, pain-in-the-ass Phillies phans that boos our team when they are doing poor, but we are always there to cheer you on when you decide to make a winning effort. I clucking love it. Haggy would probably agree.

He was just jealous that the Yanks got Jose Contreras instead of the Sox.

Re: Baseball - It does the body good. (Official Baseball Thread)

I live in Boston now but did not grow up here. I actually like another team (not the Yankees) but I'm just surprised how poorly the media/ownership/RSN treats its superstars. Some of these guys deserve to finish their careers with the Sox, but for the sake of 'profitability' and 'competiveness' these stars get kicked and dragged through the mud on their way out.

JD was awesome but everyone treats him like trash cuz he went for the money, granted if he left for anyone other than the Yankees, RSN would have some more respect.

You're right on about that point.
