Yep this is a thread dedicated to those mysterious people who so far (as far as we know) have only appeared in LOST in photographs and other still pictures.

The idea is to collate any info pertaining to these people, and to add any new pictures as they become available.

The first group of pics are from Tom Brennan’s fridge. Tom (played by Mackenzie Astin) was Kate’s flashback friend in Born to Run. He appears to be the man in the top photo with the baby. “His name’s Connor” “22 months next week” he tells Kate. Amongst the women in the other photos may be Tom’s partner Rachel.



The top picture in the second group is of a mug belonging to Detective Calderwood of the Australian police from Exodus Part I. The detective (played by Kevin E. West) tells Sawyer that he (Sawyer) broke the mug on a previous visit to the police station. We see a woman and boy pictured on the now-repaired mug. Sawyer comments “nice kids”.

Below this is a photo of Desmond and an unknown acquaintance from Orientation. When Desmond is packing up his gear, Jack stops for a moment to look at the picture. The “stepped” towers in the background have been identified as the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Waikiki. Mystery solved? - although she is clearly a different actress, the acquaintance is probably meant to be Penny Widmore who appears in a similarly composed photo in Live Together, Die Alone - see post #74.

Have I missed any pics? Anyone have any further info/speculation relating to these ones?

Addition #1 left: Strips of photobooth photos (or copies thereof) lodged within a wedding planner found by one of the survivors amongst the plane wreckage. Claire explains to Jack in Walkabout that they’re “Steve and Kristen” (last names unknown) - two passengers who apparently died in the crash. “They were on the plane sitting a couple of rows behind me. I remember because they looked so happy”. Later at the memorial service she comments that “they were really in love and were going to be married. At least, wherever they are now, they're not alone”.

Addition #2 right: Framed photos on a mantelpiece in Anthony Cooper’s home (my thanks to clayseason1). Locke is looking at the photos when he first enters the house in Deus Ex Machina. The 1st features a person whitewater kayaking; in the 2nd Cooper is posing like a cowboy with guns drawn with an unidentified elderly man sitting nearby. The 3rd features a person scuba diving with a large starfish in the foreground; in the 4th Cooper is profiled in a hat (part of a photo featuring a mountain scene can also be seen to the left of the kayaking photo). Kiwipat, I personally think this is a good idea! At one time, we were keeping a list of appearances of toy planes and globes in episodes. So why not pics in scenes.

This is probably going to require a plea for people who watch episodes, to keep this thread in mine. Right at this moment, I can't think of any, but I'm sure I will as time goes on.

SH - I’m not sure if those pics qualify as they are probably just photos of Kate’s mother Diane (played by Beth Broderick), and either her real father Wayne or her step father Sam. I’m more interested in those ‘mystery’ people who may pop up in the various pics - people who may become important later in the series.

However if anyone wants to discuss them here are the caps (sorry 'bout the motion blur):

no no...in reference to the pics in post #5 the top one I suspect is Kate's mum. The other one is clearly a guy in a white short sleeve shirt and sunglasses perhaps working at a barbecue.

or......at a 2nd look maybe its a little boy (the sunglasses look too big & fake) on a piano! Interesting
