LOST Theories So you think you know some secrets of the island? Maybe you can explain everything. If it's original and you can back it up, we'd love to hear it.

+ Desmond's clock?

Desmond seems a bit fractured and displaced in time. He can't tell correct time. If time on the island is a bit displaced then the only way to counter this would be to create an island born system that takes into account those very same variables. Variables which use the islands displacement to create a system of co'ordinates in time and space (once this is done perhaps there is some means to triangulate this with outside time and mayhap find a 'window' in which to escape).

To build such a device he would need cogs, a shadow, a radio frequency and a pair of socks.

Theory lifted directly from the Watchmen thread/theory..... be back later.

Re: Desmond's clock?

Hello all, first time on...

Wanted to bounce this off of some of you fellow Lost Philosophes. I am quite certain that most of you have seen the movie Twelve Monkeys or at least read Kurt Vonagut's book Slaughterhouse Five (all of these theories may be expressed somewhere else on this sight). Both movie and novel deal with time travel and reality. I see these as two HUGE aspects of our writers and, quite possibly, foundational to the shows over all philosophical statement (of course I am still fleshing this last part out, will come in a later post). Good to be online with you all. Out.

Re: Desmond's clock?

The time thing has been discussed a lot. I think they tried to debunk that a little with the last episode where Ben shows the baseball game on TV to Jack.

Re: Desmond's clock?

Jaypers,
I do not think it has been debunked at all, yet reinforced. If the Others have, let's say, an ability to see things from a point of view that allows them to not see life or existence as a linear series of events, but as one big picture, then the 2004 World Series to them has not only happened(past) but is happening (present), and for that matter has not happened yet (future). It (2004 WS or any event)is dependant upon one perception. How then does Juliet have Jack's entire life in a folder?

Re: Desmond's clock?

What you are saying has merit, and could be true. But when Ben tells Jack they have access to the outside world, then it wouldn't be too hard for a company with the resources of Hanso to dig up some information on all the Losties. Quite simple, actually.

But hey, I am open to any and all ideas on what is going on. If you have more on the time travel --- spill it!

So you think Des will now try to pinpoint their location in time and space? Verrrrry interesting....
