SAMCRO: Sons of Anarchy on FX
Kurt Sutter, longtime writer and Executive Producer for The Shield, brings a new series to FX.
Names and faces you'll recognize: Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Sutter's wife Katey Sagal (Peggy Bundy), Drea De Matteo (Adriana from The Sopranos). Jay Karnes (Dutch from The Shield) has a 6-episode arc somewhere in the season.
I'm not going to spend it all in the first post, so just enjoy the 2-minute preview. I'm extremely stoked for this show.

Just a question, is this supposed to be a fictional tv show or is it based on a real group of people and their lives?

Lostlunatic, it's a Realistic Fictional story. Strange answer, I know...but that's me.
I say fictional because anything I've read or seen has not mentioned that this is based on an actual club.
I say Realistic because Sutter's careful hand has kept The Shield as realistic a portrayal of 'Grey Area' Cops as you will ever see.

Re: Sons of Anarchy on FX: Guns! Bikes! Hellboy! Adrianna on Meth!
I shoulda bumped this yesterday.
The Pilot episode was very good. It's worth the ride, and the Premiere Episode is a good stand-alone mini-movie, if you don't feel like making the investment of a full season. Series Creator Kurt Sutter has three winners on his hands.
The first is that great new episode of The Shield, which he wrote. I knew it would kick ass.
The second is his new baby, Sons of Anarchy, and I'll be following it all Season long.
The third is his wife, Katey Sagal, who absolutely owns Sons of Anarchy. She's given so much more to work with here than on LOST or The Shield. It's great material and she tears it up. I see a little of Lady MacBeth, a little Carmela Soprano, and a lot of Livia Soprano in her. Somehow even while wearing flannel, cleaning up a drug infested house and smoking a joint with her son, she manages to look classy.
Every scene she's in gets better, culminating with a fantastic scene with Drea De Matteo toward the end of the episode. That's an Emmy Clip, and I'm not fooling around. If FX doesn't mount a "For Your Consideration" Campaign for Katey Sagal's performance in the Pilot alone, I'll be disappointed.

Gemma is as far from Peggy Bundy as you can get. Really, it's a juicy role and she plays it to the hilt. Someone has to put that scene with Drea De Matteo on YouTube. Damn.

I would like to state, just for the record, that the Official Acronym for the gang depicted in the show is SAMCRO ('sam crow').
Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original
